**The one and only Official BioShock Thread**- now with added **SPOILERS**

Flashget is giving me 7mins left, can't wait to try this out.

Just need to decide on whether to use XP or Vista x64

Im a bit worried now that the pc DX 9 version is going to look inferior to the 360's at the same res because of no AA :(

Shocked it hasn't been mentioned in any reviews i've read.

The jaggies are a little bit of a disappointment to be honest...

Runs brilliantly for me (apart from the nonexistent AA) in Vista 64. No performance issues/crashing whatsoever.

Can anyone who's played this tell me how claustrophobic it is? I'm wondering if it's all enclosed corridors (like Doom 3) or if there are some much wider open areas (not quite Far Cry, but enough so you can see far into the distance). The bits I've seen so far suggest it's all corridors.

PC version has about the same amount of jaggies, there's comparison shots over at, it has slightly less jaggies in some areas though.

I just hope a workaround for HDR+AA comes out, it must be something like that I hope, must be a way of getting AA working.

Time to bend over and take vista in the ass.

i do get vista free so i could install that but would i require a DX10 GPU as well to get AA?

If not then i am very miffed, this is why pc gaming is on the decline

my 360 that was 270 quid over a year ago can do AA

yet my PC which was £1000 new at xmas can't

Demo was all corridors. Very small rooms and such. I'm hoping you get to go into one of those big daddy suits and venture out in the water and fight sharks and kill little fish.

You would need a DX10 card to use DX10 features that only vista has. Its really expensive.

360 version doesn't have AA either...or well the PC must have some AA because it looks more or less the same as the 360 for jaggies.

I do hope AA is gonna be in the game though. :/

its not exactly corridors from what i've seen, mostly large open rooms, lots of balconies and wide staircases. Its meant to feel claustrophobic, you're in an underwater city being reclaimed by the sea :p

it didn't? i remember the 360 version looking fine jaggie wise. The only thing im going on for pc was the shots posted earlier, some of them seemed to have some pretty serious jaggies going on :(

Maybe the apparent new nVidia drivers have a profile to get the AA working, maybe.

I doubt it, I really hope AA ends up being possible though. :(

Well at 2K Forums some comparisons were done and the jaggies were more or less the same with the PC version looking very slightly better on some parts.

Everyone should just sit tight and wait for these 'Magical' drivers from Ati and Nvidia to come out. Im sure they will fix AA and other problems :)

That's fine by me, as long as it's not 'cheap' claustrophobia in the way that Doom 3 was, though I did enjoy that game anyway.

Gigaget download manager helped my download speed loads on the link a few pages back, downloading 279k without it was around 30k. Changeing Tools>options>Max simultaneous tasks to 10 in giganet helps.

As for Fileplanet the play the demo here 1st on the reservation surely has to be a joke! Couldnt find any mirrors and the reserve seems to have been removed from the frontpage. Grrr.

Getting off Rapidshare now no faffing about should be done in 10 min

Extremely annoyed with Fileplanet after leaving my PC on all night then waking up to find they had taken it down. Tossers
