The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

I'm surprised this ******* hasn't been getting more involved in the Ukraine invasion tbh.

This is fun

Musk might be stalling to see if the Tesla shares, he'll use/leverage to finance some of purchase recover - hadn't appreciated from FT they've lost 1/3 value over last year and just missed Quarters production target.

In the end, both Volkswagen and GM believe they will be selling more EV cars than Tesla between 2025-26, only 3-4 years from now. So, Tesla could very quickly fall from the #1 seller worldwide to #3 or lower in the not-too-distant future. The only way the company may be able to stick around is through the offering of lower-priced, lower-margin vehicle designs. My main worry is peak earnings for Tesla may occur in 2023-24, followed by a steep dive, perhaps into a permanent operating loss position thereafter.

Vice is basically a left wing modern hipster publication that mostly just publishes the imaginary so probably not.

They do sometimes have some good reporting/good documentaries though and tbh.. picking up the phone to Putin and trying to solve this somehow *is* the sort of thing Elon might do.

He's an autist and an Engineer who obviously cares about the situation in Ukraine and sees the risk and so wants to fix it somehow even if that means blundering into it and making some spectacular gaffes with his ill-thought-out comments on twitter, unlike most he's got a huge amount of resources, a big platform and people will pick up the phone to him.

He's kinda on the right track re: a likely settlement too albeit too prematurely; I do actually think it's quite plausible (IF Putin manages to hold on to power) that we might well end up in a situation where Crimea is formally handed over to Russia or put into limbo pending a referendum, access to the canal/water guaranteed and possibly even some referendums in the East... I suspect Ukraine will want to retake more of its territory before they even contemplate such a scenario though. I can't see why Ukraine would want to stop and negotiate right now while they're winning, Russia would at the very least IMO have to retreat from Kherson and most of the rest of the south as a "good will gesture" and/or be forced too by Ukraine before any negotiations are likely to have much of a chance of success. Though this is going a bit off-topic for this thread. If Putin is removed or dealing with internal conflict in Russia then all bets are off and the retaking of Crimea possibility perhaps increases.

If there is anything in it other outlets will confirm. I would imagine the State Dept would want a word and possibly DOJ if it is true.

For what? Speaking to Putin as a private citizen? Musk is concerned about the risk of potential nuclear war and you're fantasizing about a world where he's arrested, you are so strange.

There is the Logan Act to stop private citizens involving themselves in international relations. And I didn't say arrested, I said they might want a word. And who is fantasising? You are a very strange person.

Did you just quote some 220 year old law that no one has ever been convicted of to back up your ridiculously bizarre statement that the DOJ would "want a word" for someone speaking to Putin as a private citizen? Just stop man. If Elon did speak to Putin then it would probably be a good thing because he's a reasonable and pragmatic guy. You do understand that nuclear war is the worst thing that could happen to our species ever? Nothing is more important than avoiding that.
