The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Simps have bought pre existing horrible character traits to the fore IMO. Only the truly odd will stroke his ego in the way he's found he likes, so he has to pander to the fringe, like the '87 club on here.
I think there's some truth in what batman would say.

"you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain"

I can see how being the hero for too long would go to someone's head. Elon was the hero, he was cool, he was hitting all the right notes, but it's clearly gone to his head. He appears to surround himself with yes men, now wanting to be liked no matter who's it's from, so will go after the likes of the weakest simpiest men around.

Can someone explain this to me. What's going, and how is it, truly corrupt?

IIRC The legacy blue check system had some unclear criteria for inclusion and some underhand trading of blue checks; people selling accounts and some alleged bribery of Twitter staff.

It's not particularly relevant to their business now that Twitter Blue allows anyone to be verified ergo they're phasing it out.

Thanks.

So Elon's removing those ticks in every way?

The old blue free ticks are totally gone?

Did you not see this coming?

I think he thought all the blue tick people would subscribe @8.99 but they didnt. So this is him sulking again.
Badly thought out plan is badly thought out who at the top of twitter thought this paid for blue tick think was ever going to fly…

Advertising exec: I'd like to advertise my upmarket car against some blue tick ad safe celebs

Twitter: sorry we got rid of that feature best I can do is put it against suckers that paid $8 that will probably say something racist

Sure, it was more Elon's "truly corrupt" part that threw me off.

I wonder, given he told millions to vote republican, and he announced publically that he's a republican voter now because the "Dems are so mean and scary to him", if he'll now say, don't vote republican based on the latest corruption discovered going on with trump/fox, or is that not, truly corrupt enough like these corrupt blue ticks were

"Please Elon, turn social media into a better advertising platform"

Are those scary purple haired people in the room with you right now?

Of course not, he just flexes and they scuttle away muttering into their goji berry and tofu salads which they can barely carry with their skinny arms.

Personally I think its obvious that advertisers pander to left wing audiences out of recognition they are generally active in the tech space where as the right wing aren't.
The right wing are dragging their knuckles around thumping their chests and putting trump stickers and preaching hate. ;) Lovely to apply some labels isn't it.

OFC I am talking America here and I am sure there are some good people on the right as well. ;)
MTG seems to be a lovely individual.

Musk is curious on this though. Bar the very early cars which were lol money his client base for Tesla is far more left wing, climate change focussed than the group he is now trying to pander to.
Dangerous timing with other manufacturers catching up.

He really needs to get this twitter switch sorted and stop playing out his brain dumps in public.

I love the idea that the advertisers, who are absolutely trying to get people to spend money on their products are scared of the apparently tiny minority of "leftists", as opposed to the majority of the public who are apparently according to Fox news (the lying channel*) et al far more "right wing".

I mean if the "leftists" were such a minority, and the racist and anti-Semitic. anit-government rants of the sort of people Elon unbanned and is now actively acting as tech support for (catturd etc) were so much "normal" and acceptable to the average american, then surely the advertisers would have no issue with them, after all that's where the money would be.
Meanwhile back in the real world, advertisers that have spent decades and billions of dollars of their clients money trying to do things like create a family friendly and all inclusive image (maximise your market bro!), tend not to want an advert for their product running next to a rant against the "globalists" or how segregation was a great idea. I mean advertisers will spend a lot of time and money just to get their advert in the "right" slot for their market under normal conditions, they certainly don't want it running randomly next to something that goes against their brand image and values (beside it not being shown to the "right market", it's actively seen as harmful by them to have it running with some content).
It also won't have helped Musk at all that he got rid of pretty much everyone at Twitter who understood how advertising works, who booked the adverts, and who tried to ensure adverts could be targeted thus generate the most money as a small number of targeted adverts always brings in more per view than a large number of untargeted ones, you can run several lots of targeted ad campaigns for the same total number of ads as one untargeted campaign.

*Acknowledged in the dominion court docs and Fox news' own internal documentation that they absolutely know they were actively lying about the whole stolen election thing (apparently even Murdoch under oath has stated that Fox endorsed things they knew were false).
