The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

I think it shows a rather different story than what we've been lead to believe, clearly the Police seemed rather more compliant and seemingly happy to show at least that one guy around. What's the explanation there for those of us who haven't looked into it that much? I thought he'd broken in, not been given a guided tour

It blows my mind when the rubes in the USA fall for this right wing grifter BS , but people in the UK, good grief.

you're funny, you think Musk cares about contracts which is highly unlikely given his blatant disregard for employment law and all the other contracts he's ignored since taking over twitter, like the contracts that state rent has to be paid, or the contracts that state the lawyers have to be paid, or the contracts of the other employees who are now taking him to court.

Yeah, I don't think Elon Musk cares to pay people six figure salaries to sit around all day doing nothing, contract be damned. Why are you so fussed about him paying rent? Twitter was probably being overcharged on almost everything, I feel sorry for the guy having to turn what seems like a complete **** show of an organisation into a stream lined one that can actually turn a profit.

Are you ignoring the part where they didnt bother telling him. Them Musk playing silly childish games with him on Twitter?

I'm sat watching a video with my own eyes where a man is being given a guided tour by Police, then has been sentenced to 4 years in prison. Did he attack anyone?

Is that the only video you have seen of him? Do you understand why he is in prison?

Photographs and videos taken during the riot show Chansley carrying a spear in the Capitol. Prosecutors also say he led other protesters in prayer at the dais - a raised platform - and left a note threatening former Vice-President Mike Pence.

"It's only a matter of time," the note read. "Justice is coming!"

Prosecutors had recommended a sentence of 51 months in prison, arguing that the government "cannot overstate the serious" of Chansley's conduct.

"His consistent rhetoric before and after the event, and his apparent ability to carry out his intentions of violently removing the 'traitors' in our government, is clear from the evidence in this case," prosecutors said.

Its such a shame you have gone down your route. You could have been a force for good and the truth but instead you have gone done the CT BS hole.

I'm literally watching a video Tony, if they attacked the Police throw them in jail, the Police are showing them around. Everyone is seeing the same thing, not just me, it damages government trust and this is absolutely not how we've been led to believe events unfolded.

Actually everyone is not seeing what you are seeing. You are either lieing or deluded if you think Jan 6th wasnt an insurrection where police were beaten and members of the house didnt have to run for their lifes.

Ok man, I just think it's pretty laughable stuff, I just expected the Police would have at least told them to leave and threatened to arrest him or even shot him, not shown him around? Not much of an insurrection if the Police are opening doors for you

You are watching a video edited by Tucker Carlson to push the narrative that Jan 6th was a peaceful event where people just took an unscheduled tour of the Capitol Building. I really can't believe you are this gullible. The whole idea is that it damages the trust in government and paints the narrative the like of Tucker and MTG are pushing

His lawyers had access to all the video yet he didn't go to trail and plead guilty. Why?

Were there possibly some police who sympathised with the insurrectionists and didn't do their duty? Absolutely, there were people all over government and armed services who supported Trump trying to stay in power even after losing an election. That doesn't mean the people violently breaking into Congress and threatening to hang politicians including the vice president didn't break the law and deserve their prison sentences.

Just mute the video if you don't want to hear Tucker Carlson, it isn't edited footage, it's CCTV of him being shown around by Police who were later given medals. He was trespassing sure, but it seems like a fairly peaceful protest on his part. You do support peaceful protests don't you?

He was imprisoned for Felony Obstruction of Congress, you can be jailed for things other than just attacking people you know.

The police officer in question has previously explained his actions.

"The sheer number of them compared to us, I knew ahead there was no way we could all get physical with them,” Robishaw said, “so I took it upon myself to try to talk to them.”

“I can’t do anything, you know, all I can do is shout orders and if they listen, great, and if they don’t, I cannot force them,”

So at that point, as Chansley was one of the first few who broke into the building, the Capitol police where trying to peacefully de-escalate the situation inside, rather than later when the rest of the mob had entered and it did get more physical. With millions of $ damage done and 1 rioter shot dead.

Yeah there were definitely hooligans involved, but it seems from the footage like most weren't there to riot or commit violence and were just protesting. Kind of like if you went to a football match and a dozen fans in front of you started throwing things.

For sure there were peaceful protesters outside, who are even on camera arguing that people shouldn't be breaking in as it was against the law and they stayed outside.

But in your analogy of the football match, a lot of others got swept along and joined the hooligans with throwing things and turned it into a full scale riot, so they are as culpable for the violence that occurred.

Also Chansleys online history from before the riot paints the picture he wasn't just an unintentially involved bystander, but someone fully down the rabbit hole of 'stop the steal'.

Of course its edited, they have edited together a piece of video that only shows him walking around with some police.

He was one of the first through a smashed door. He was at the front of a crowd that overwhelmed a police line. I really can't believe you are defending this guy. And some people say propaganda doesn't work, here is the perfect test case that proves it does.

Funny because from all accounts Twitter is much further from being able to turn a profit now than it was pre Musk.
Maybe instead of just using a hammer for every problem he had taken the whole toolkit and used it in a more planned way it wouldn't have been quite such large problem hes now got to deal with.
