The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Perhaps the BBC could do a study of social media users and rank their happiness with the platform, perhaps what they like and dislike about each one, and then they'd have something to reference. That would require some actual journalism though rather than reporting that Elon Musk is changing the colour of the tick someone has next to their profile.
Or they could look and see 100 million users have signed up to threads in 1 week. Incredible.

If twitter has shareholders, they'd be firing Elon and sueing him.

The writing is on the wall now.

It's just a matter of time, and not even a long time by the looks of it. Once threads passes a certain point above twitter, twitter will never recover.

I see that the biased, Musk hating BBC has compared Threads and Twitter directly! IS THIS NEWS?!

Yeah threads needs some time yet IMO.
The people I follow are mainly setting up, but twitter remains their main platform for now.

I wouldn't say the battle is over.
I don't really see a massive benefit from hashtags but there is some.

IMO DMs are a big miss so far for threads. I was unconvinced but increasingly finding twitter is better for getting company reaction than phone/email.
Especially if its a negative your dealing with. They downplay them a lot by traditional means as they can get away with it.

Direct messaging companies via instagram is what most people do and given the association of threads and instagram, they probably want to avoid too much overlap.

Yeah right Elon. Its almost like he's trying too hard to look good coming out of what has been a disaster. From refusing DD to signing a contract that could force him to buy it at $44b. If he goes much further he's going to start looking like My Pillow guy :(

This post didn't age well for poor Elon. Only 1 year ago and he was smiling. Now he's talking about Zuckerberg's penis.

looks as though they are(were?) planning to upgrade twitter dm's to take some market from Insta

Popular microblogging website Twitter is experimenting with some new features that could soon be making their way onto the platform.

This includes experiments for voice and video endeavors that would become a part of users’ DMs. See, the goal is to provide all sorts of new functionalities and utilities on the app, while making it simpler to keep in touch with your loved ones along the way.

I don't understand what is it they are trying to do here and what the demand is? To send voice notes via DM?

It has got me thinking though, whatever happened to twitter being this super app that does everything, the x app. Trusty was telling us about the app taking payments, being similar to the Chinese alternative, and how it'd quadruple twitter price. I haven't heard anything about that in a long time

Businessmen must be super serious.

When being a massive dick wipes 2/3 from your company's value, it wouldn't hurt, ask Ratner.

I mean, common, what sort of moron would defend a businessman's actions in running a company when it's lost 2/3 of its value from their ownership?

I'm not defending, I don't particularly care what he does. Can run his business as he sees fit.

What sort of moron would criticise a business man who has so many successful businesses he's become the richest man in the world (or top 3 at least).

Because things can happen after, that change your opinion of that person? That's how things work

Why would somebody criticise the success Jimmy Saville had as a TV presenter, before the allegations?

As an extreme example (not suggesting Musk is a paedo)

I thought you guys were fed up with him over-promising and then not releasing things in a timely manner? Now you seem to be criticising when he doesn't give updates every 10 minutes... the ****** can't win with you

But we're not criticising those businesses, that's the whole point of this thread isn't it?

You can be a successful businessman in one area of expertise, that doesn't necessarily mean you are an expert at everything as his simps believe he is. So criticism of how he runs this company, from a businessman pov (not from a 'I'm a billionaire narcissistic who loves attention so I'm going to act like a dick for the laughs irrespectiveof the cost) is perfectly valid.

probably the converse Musk disciples are reviewing his efficacy at Tesla following his success at Twitter - but their cognitive dissonance is strong.
