The sad thing is they can both afford to donate $m to veterans today and could make a real difference but instead he just promises it on a fight that will never happen. Sad.

It's weird, Musk tried to delay complying with that very legitimate court order, but apparently he's been complying with simple requests from some very dodgy governments often without the court order.

Yep. Foreign authoritarian governments he obeys them without any push back. US government he delays and wants to inform the target of the investigation.

has been. he confirmed it with regards to i think turkey elections, the government told them to ban twitter from all the population and only allow the government to post their election stuff, and elon complied and then replied to tweets saying something like "what are you expecting me to do, go against a government and allow free speech?" and then jack dorsey replied saying "we always did"
it wasn't exactly like above, but something like that.

Based on data that the social media companies share (although I suspect musk will stop that) with researchers who study the trends and which governments are trying to do what with the internet.
Twitter pre musk had a robust policy of actively checking the requests were valid and if need be actually fighting them in the relevant courts, apparently Twitter now approves something like 85% of such requests fully.
From memory one of the "useless" teams that Musk got rid of within days of buying twitter was most of it's legal ones, including the team that used to fight dodgy legal requests (one of the reasons twitter is getting in hot water with various governments is he got rid of most of the "local" twitter teams that specialised in keeping a social media company operating legally in different jurisdictions).

To be honest, there's handful of items that would be pretty cool but as you've got to sort delivery with a third-party, it would get very expensive very quickly for us overseas folk.
