I don't read it that way, it reads that he understands the challenges and is going to try anyway. Ref: falling, him tackling a social issue - at great personal cost - could easily be argued to be his highest point. I'm not saying this is the case, simply that it isn't so obvious that he has "fallen" at all.

Just sounds like more Elon spin after suggesting a stupid change that no one wanted and isn't allowed by Apple or Google and now he's just trying to save face.
I do wonder if he'll get bored of running Twitter but with the amount of simps feeding his ego I somehow doubt it.
Maybe. The way he talks about having the "everything" app, and the way he seems unperturbed by taking on very financially risky ventures, I'd be seeing him as a threat if I was Google or Apple. Didn't Apple recently bend their own rules to allow a single letter app name on their store? Musk threatened to make his own phone if he was blocked in this area, I reckon he's bold/crazy/brave/pick your own word enough to do that.

I don't think Musk phone is something Apple is going to be worried about
Musk would have to buy an existing company to enter a business he knows nothing about (as can be seen by his lack of understanding of the most basic parts of the App stores), and then develop his own eco system for that phone for it to become an issue for Apple and Google, and it's been shown that it is incredibly hard to get people who have invested into one of the phone eco systems to change over, even to another established one.

Who would buy it other than Elon fanbois? You don't buy a phone for one app and 99.99% of phone users aren't ditching Apple or Google for Elon.
Well that's easy to say without any information isn't it. What if the phone is awesome, and cheaper than competition?
Now don't jump to accusations like you usually do and claim I'm saying it will be. But if it is, then it will clearly attract a market.

You think building an app store like Apple or Google is easy? And there are phones out there that are cheaper than Google and Apple and are good phones but outside of Asia their market share is nowhere. Elon isn't taking on Apple or Google.
