IF you look down the bottom right it says Susans (the wife). I managed to get her to run Ubuntu but had to make it familier-ish

Just change the dock settings, you can get to it by clicking the Apple icon on the Menu bar and going into the Dock settings.

Or if you mean less icons, just drag the on the Desktop and they will *poof* and disappear. (But stay in the Apps folder)
