The outcome from my earlier thread....

Great news Gibbo. Hold on tho, you're getting a full refund, but you're expected to rectify the problem at your expense?

Yes a full refund, but I get to keep the PSE. So I have all my money back and I shall then use that money to repair the car, so its not at my expense because the refund more than covers it.

I am just glad its sorted and has been sorted in less than 24 working hours, so am happy. Yes it should have never happened but both companies have done the right thing and acted fast. :)

I can't see the mechanic getting the sack, I think hes still there, they have just been caught are refunding to avoid any more hassle and bad rep.

Good result though.

Ah, a fellow sceptic.

I doubt there even was a "mechanic". Probably just a one off dodgy job that slipped through the net or maybe another dodgy job swept under the carpet, blamed on a fictional "new mechanic".

Guess we'll never know, and therefore whether the lynching in the other thread was justified or not.

glad to hear it went well, but concerned that they didnt QC a new engineers work and let him loose on your car so quickly...

This.

Years ago when I use to do fitting at Toyota (alarms, sat navs, parking sensors, TRD performance parts, decals, etc etc basically making the vehicle into the spec required) we were shown once by a supervisor/trainer for each individual job and would spend the day with him doing the same specific fit a few times over, we were then expected to replicate it without fail down to the last tie wrap etc on our own.

Over the years of doing this, the supervisor would randomly pull vehicles in from completed stock for audits on the fits, if anything was a miss then you certainly knew about it.

Decent and fair enough outcome then, bit of a ball ache but will all be sorted at no extra cost which is the main thing.

Glad the public vilification was pulled, right thing to do imho so well done there.

Well done, if that can be said. As long as you believe it to be the truth and you get the refund + work done it shows at least the specialist is willing, whether or not this new employee existed.

The car certainly doesn't deserve poor treatment! :)

A bit headache and stress to go through, but I think you've got a good result and perhaps restored some of your faith.
After it's all done, you'll have the PSE fitted correctly and have more money in your pocket than expected - result I say. The other outcome of this may be that if you do take your car there in the future they will know to take extra special care of it, maybe above normal service.

Hopefully todays info/prices helped your case!

my thoughts entirely.

Hence why its easy to fire said new mechanic on the spot.

Because he never existed.

Still nevermind, its none of our business, and gibbo has his money back. Everybodys happy.
