So ive seen a 56 reg Subaru Impreza WRX for £8000 that looks pretty sweet. But insurance is coming up at £2600 via way of admiral for 5yNCB 0 points, zero convictions for a 28 year old.

And thats parked on the street. As soon as i change to In Garage, it jumps up to £3300!!

What? How does that work. i dont have a garage but still common sense tells me that it should be cheaper for garaged than on the street?

Anyway, any other insurers i should be looking at for some Scooby action, i cant really afford £2000+ a year for insurance alone:/

I think garage is more expensive due to increased likelyhood of scrapes and dents from driving in and out of it on a regular basis. Driveway parking would be cheapest i'd expect.

Post Code, your job, car, age, licence held all play major factors. Insurance is turning into a joke now, just how it works I'm afraid. :(

Really?

I'd have thought a car being garaged would be cheaper due to it being hidden away & thus (hopefully!) less likely to be stolen?

Your premium makes me wince OP!

last car I put down as garaged the quote didn't change at all :/

Mind you, at £270 there wasn't much to drop by anyway! :D

street is the cheapest with admiral group.

dont know why but it always comes up that way. the only guess i can make is that logically the car is more visible and therefore less likely to get broken into?

On my policy i have my mum but on this quick quote i didnt.

Just ran it by confused.com, cheapest was admiral at £2200 and dearest was tesco at £8928.53:/

Thats some awful pricing right there.

Going from 24 to 25 knocked off over a grand on my quote for a hawkeye. Even still thats 1400 a year. Looks like I have got two years to go at least before I can get something really powerful.

Something like a Mazda6 MPS which is 90% of a imprezza is only £600 a year to insure.

Being driven absolutely mad by the fact I can't insure a Eunos for the same price as an MX5 at the moment :(

street is cheaper, permit parking is similar(classed as residental parking i believe on the quotes.

adding drivers to the quote can help, try different combination of mum, dad, mum and dad until you find the one that works out the cheapest

Have you tried either Keith Micheals or A-Plan, both come recommened on scoobynet or Impreza insurance. Might be able to get the quote lower.

Same here man, altho i have found that if the insurer recognises the licence plate as an import and gives you all the details it's around the same price as the equiv 1.8 uk, which i found very odd.

This was done on a J-Limited 2 compared with a boggo uk spec 1.8.

Yeah I've noticed some cars are fine, some arn't, I really don't get it. Still, I can't complain to much at £900 to insure a 19 year old with a fault claim on an MX5 fully comp :)

Shame though, Eunos' are often in better nick.
