Cards have turned up today :D

Just testing them now before getting the w/blocks on later today. So far so good. Will have some pics of blocks later today or tomorrow.

Quality of these has surprised me. They do look and feel really top quality. Weighs a tonne compared to my ref Ti's.

Bought some other stuff so ended up with 3 bags haribo lol.

Add me kaap :)

Edit: Both cards boosting by themselves up to 1911mhz dead with no overclock. Overclocked both are boosting to over 2.1ghz with no voltage increase. Can't wait to get these under water!

Welcome and on TROH.:)

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your GTX 1080.

I know all the answers to your questions but really can't discuss this stuff further in public.
So how do we get to the bottom of this ? Should we wait or PM you to get the answer ? :)

I kinda feel like.....2100MHz 1080 vs 1500 980Ti = 10-13% difference.
If I go on ebay I can get 980Ti for <400£ which is 1/2 of the cost of 1080.

Now...is paying 100% more for 10% performace adequate cosidering I have high end watercooling system and if 1080 is locked to 1.25V my cooling system is not going to be used to its full potential and I will gain nothing rly

I think the power limit is either due to a limitation of the new architecture... OR they don't want to uncover the full potential of the 1080 as it'd probably close the gap between the 1080 and whatever their next card is (1080Ti, Titan)

Could be wrong but it's just my thoughts. Obviously those who know the reason won't/can't tell us folk anyways

There's always a limiting factor, otherwise we would run 8800GTX @ 150,000 Mhz.

Also what would anyone expect to achieve by adding more than 1.25v ? Besides benchmarks, even a very optimistic extra 100 Mhz wouldn't even be perceivable in games.
To me this seems like a non issue.
We pushed the 980Ti from 1000 to 1500, we can push this from 1600 to 2100, we're not far off at all.

There is no such thing as unlocked BIOS. Currently any voltage over 1.25v in 3D is not working at all. Power limit is also locked. 2.2+ is simply look of the draw.

Gigabytes card is basically reference PCB so I cant see it doing any more than FE.

A bit disappointing and perhaps that's why we haven't seen the clocks on the higher end cards yet, as they aren't much different.

Still, I'll be happy with my Xtreme whenever it does arrive.

Just adding the blocks now. Laughing thinking who the hell wrote these EK instructions.

"Remove all encircled screws using pliers" PLIERS!

Bearing in mind these are the pcb screws that are for a 4 or 5mm spanner by the looks of it. Sat here gingerly removing them with 6" bacho adjustable. Well...

Yep EKWB are famous for their awful instructions.

Fortunately you can figure out what they really mean if you are patient.:D:)

Quite happy with the temps on my 1080 with my modded Corsair HG10 mount and an H75 strapped onto it. Not seen it hit over 52 degrees C yet which is good especially considering how hot my house is at the moment.

Pics please...I'm mega interested in something like this on the clown version...

That's exactly the card I got and I got it because I was always planning on doing this to it anyway :)

Have a GPU support bracket under the card to stop it sagging...crappy picture and at a bit of a dodgy angle but you get the idea:

Just needed to do this to the HG10 980 to get it to fit on the 1080:
