The Pascal GTX 1080 Ti Owners Thread

I've taken one of the EVGA hybrid coolers from my old 980s and fitted it to my 1080ti.

The shroud doesn't fit but the pump itself is fine. It's working perfectly, much quieter and 55 degrees max under load.

I'm running at +150 core +500 memory, with a 120% power limit.

It seems that the power limit is the thing holding me back now, so I'm contemplating putting conductive ink on the shunt resistors, I have some here already.

How are you cooling the VRM's etc..?

I'm looking at picking up an FE model. Can someone who already owns one provide some feedback on the noise and temps? Previously I've had the GTX Titan Reference cards and the noise wasn't great but it wasn't a game changer. Just wondering if the new FE models have improved?

Noise is subjective and I game with headphones anyway. I came from a 980Ti hybrid so obviously a lot quieter. It is quieter than my 7990 before that but that was known as a noisy hot card. But it is noisy relatively. I think as the blower cards blast the air through the grill at the back this is what makes the rush sound. AIB cards blow the air into the case and isn't so audible as the case itself muffles the sound.

Temps - well obviously if you have a high ambient temp house then mileage may vary but my place is 21 degrees and OC to 1975Mhz on the Core and +400 on the memory mine will hold a steady 83 degrees. Once the temp limit is moved to 90 degrees to limit throttling.

stock for stock yes it is definitely a bit quieter - for reference I had a 980ti Strix and to keep my gaming clocks around 1500mhz the noise was not entirely dissimilar to what the 1080ti blower needs to keep clocks around 2000mhz with a bit of throttling in to the 1900's

I don't find the noise that bad. Playing BF1 mine sits at about 70c @ 78% tops boosting to about 1934MHz with just 120% power, +100Mhz on core and memory. I'm happy with that for 24/7 use.

This is true but with a standard card it won't even guarantee those speeds

And already at 83C you have lost 84Mhz from your max boost. If your card was say at 29C it would be boosting to 2059Mhz so you are losing 4.25% of its maximum performance.

Which is why if I was buying one it would have to a decent cooler - zotac or pallit or a waterblock or hybrid.

At 83C the standard cooler is going to sound like a jet engine. Do you not rate the STRIX cooler at all then? The one on my 1080 was excellent noise wise and with the improvements of the new STRIX i expect it to be even better.

Hi Snips, long time no talk. I would avoid the FE model if you want to run higher clocks and avoid throttling. I only brought mine to watercool. I think the custom cards are supposed to be right around the corner so it's definitely worth waiting.
