US: The Pitt

Out of interest is anyone watching this on NowTV? It's not showing in HDR for me but if you have a direct HBO sub / app it is in HDR.

Only 1 more to go. How come they can make this series in a year, make fantastic, well written and gripping stories with great characters, when other series take years to make half the number of episodes, which are mostly dross and filler? Series 3 due to drop next Jan.

Well its set in one space if you think about it. Just the ER rooms. which is the best part about it. Also Noah Wyle is the producer and see he has writing credits, maybe the days of the gruelling ER filming seasons maybe still in that mode?
You are right though, perhaps the producers just have their house in order and I cant think of a single filler episode in both seasons.

It's top tier TV, binged through Season 1 in no time. It's annoying that Season 2 is out of sync with the US, only 3 episodes available so far on HBO Max

Great last episode. Consistently brilliant series.

From the producer John Wells re season 3.

“The writers’ room opened up last week, and they’re at the end of their second week,” confirmed Wells during a chat on March 19. “We will be back in production in June, and plan to be back on the air again the same week in January with 15 episodes next year.”

Great finale for sure, but I only just learned about the mid credit scene I need to watch tomorrow.

Roll on January 2027! And please please please give us a Nightcrawlers spin off :D

Finished s2 up earlier been watching it over a few nights as some of these episodes I need a break after it due to how well they manage to push certain emoticons, it's nice to see a full cast of people were you can actually see their faces move wrinkles and all and it really adds to it.

Overall I still prefer s1, I do wonder with the ICE episode if they had to cut certain parts of it as it felt off in places like there was more to it but they'd edited around it to not offend certain types of Americans.

Roll on s3 and luckily we don't have to wait long unlike other shows.

Binged s2 as quick as S1, started tuesday and finished up on Friday evening!! Not as intense as S1 but still made me watch majority without ever looking at my phone, which is becoming more of a rarity, although not sure if thats a reflection on me or the shows I'm watching!

I'm thinking of starting this.

Is it fair to say it's just a procedural hospital drama with a different case every week, and you follow the lives of the doctors in a serialised way? Kind of like House, but more realtime and ER-ey.?

Different, it's filmed over a 'shift' in one day so it's always moving forward and doesn't really give you time to digest things like it would if you really had the job, some of the episodes hit hard so you can binge it but for me I need a break between certain episodes, not so much with s2 but def with s1.

The episodes are titled with the hour slot they are in and follow straight on so there's no need to have a recap every episode, it works like a normal A + E would with peaks and troughs with the amount of cases / people turning up but then things can and do happen that is outside of their control, like a mass casualty event.

If you enjoy medical type shows but want a more realistic feel to it rather than other shows where the Doctor's have one patient and it's always lupus / odd ball case of what's causing their issues this isn't that type of show.

They are good at the turn around too with filming so far we're getting 15 episodes season every year.

I'll check out the 1st few episodes, based on your description.

I liked House, a lot, so am expecting at least 1 Lupus diagnosis in one of the episodes....

I loved House, I've also loved binging this but they are two totally different types of show other than both being based on medicine

Bear in mind, this show is strictly about what happens only in the ER, is doesn't follow patients to surgery etc, you will get talk about what happened to them "upstairs" but it'll be a small mention. Only time filming outside of the ER is at the very start and very end of both series so far.
