What does the Power Limit actually control? I get that it adds more power but I don't know in what way and how it affects power draw etc.
Arrived today Got a 6.8 on the SteamVR test, going to give DCS a try soon.
Didn't get a chance to post this yesterday but here's my submission!
One Radeon RX 480 GTR Black Edition
My current temp is 40c, fans inactive & clocks at idle. I'll play some games in a bit & feedback. I haven't played around yet with power limits or fan limits etc.
IIRC it allows the card to draw more power if it wants to, this does not mean it will draw more power though.
It is not the same as upping the voltage where you are giving the card more whether it needs it or not.
I meant load temp and noise
No Man's Sky maxed at 1440p - temps 60C but it's ramping the fan right up which is pretty loud so I need to *play around with wattman

I got my Devil 480 yesterday ohhhh yeah!
I have an old legacy BIOS mobo and with the 480, POST and BIOS options are very laggy. Is this normal behaviour?
Having been out of the game for a very long time that seems like an arbitrary way to regulate power.. what was wrong with good old voltage?
P.S. What games would you recommend for people like me? Doom sort of bridge the gap for me. I'm eyeing Total War: Warhammer for my next adventure.
It's been more than 5 years since I was actively gaming and I gotta say the RX480 and Doom have managed to bring out the suppressed gamer in me.
Proud owner with a very old PC!
My build is based on an FX-4350 and since the 480 arrived, it is now humming away again on a daily basis! I only had Ubuntu on it, so while waiting for the Sapphire from OCUK, I dished out £99 for a copy of Windows 10.
Soon as I got the card I was able to play Doom. My monitor is an old Dell U2711 and can only do 60fps at 1440p (awesome monitor by the way, IPS panel and all) so the CPU is not limiting at all. I play on Ultra 1440p locked at 60fps and it's awesome.
I'm in trouble now though... So much on the list... A Freesync monitor so I can unlock more FPS... A better CPU (which means new motherboard and RAM)...
Oh AMD... What have you done? Zen can't come soon enough (it should save me quite a few pounds).

Have you tried overclocking the monitor? I have turned my 60fps dell u2515h into 80hz. I now get a locked 80fps

Right im bored of waiting for the next tier of AMD cards, i want to replace my 290 Tri-X, so im looking at getting a pair of 480's, the only stipulation is they must be NON Reference models, i wont be watercooling, so i want recommendations for a pair of 480's to lob in Xfire for a few months til the new AMD cards come.
I have a Phantek Enthoo Primo case and a 1000w Plat PSU, so theres no concerns over power or space for the cards, im thinking perhaps the Powercolor Devil models? although ive seen a lot of people recommend the XFX models?
Anyone running non ref 480 Xfire? if so whats your thoughts?
