Someone already posted this on the previous page.

I think this is really good news for amd. They are coming back stronger every time now. There drivers are actually really good this time round and nvidia are making theirs worse and worse by the day.

This is a welcome development. Driver support was one area where AMD was perceived to be weak, but they seem to be doing better here, while supporting their products for much longer. This bodes well for consumers.

Just what I like to see on the day I install my new card. I was buying this card for the long term as AMD update drivers over the long term but they are doing it over the short term as well.

Are there any indications that this new driver update in a few days will improve the freesync range? I only see displays starting from 48hz, which seems a bit high to me. I understand that the freesync range is theoretically like 20-144, but have yet to see that in action.

I hunk it's limited by the monitor itself. Mine is 40-144Hz.

Freesync has a supported ranged of 9 to 240hz. The effective range supported is set by the manufacturer of the monitor one is using. There are all sorts of limiting factors, such as the panel used, the scaler used, what the manufacturer choose to set it to spite being capable of a higher range. Example of this would be the LG ultrawide. Many of the models in the UM catagory can be overclocked beyond 75hz with full freesync support.

my current freesync monitor supports 40-75hz. Its a vg245h from asus. Nothing special but does the job well for the money paid. personally i dont care about sup 50 support as the experience i find is dreadful be it freesync or gsync(also had a premium gsync panel once).

I just bought from OC's a powercolour Radeon RX 480 Devil 8192MB for my sons christmas build and after reading reviews and in the discription it says there is a dual bios, some reviews have a picture of the switch, however there is no switch on my one, the backplate has a different design to review pics so is this a newer different version ?

The Freesync range is definitely monitor controlled rather than drivers. Mine is 45-160 (AOC C3583FQ). Though that monitor is not actually branded as being "Freesync", but just activesync (same thing).

But yea, theres quite a clear gap between the 1060 and 480 now, especially in dx12. The 480 is running away with it.

I'll take a look at mine when I get home as I bought the same card a couple of weeks back.

Yes it is. I extended my range through INF modification from 40-60HZ to 33-60HZ will no ill effects.
