***The Pond Discussion Thread****

Been following your thread easy, looking good so far! Bet it felt good to fill it with water, it becomes a bit more real I guess.

How deep is it?

Now I have created a berm scratted the bottom its 1.4m deep :)

Just waiting on the stones from the local quarry (big stones) and cobbles and pebbles for the beach.

Plants are arriving tomorrow. And then wildlife should move in pretty quick!

Where are you obtaining the BIIIIIIG stones from?

I went to the local Quarry. The site manager turned out to be an old school friend I have not seen for 20 years...He took me out in his 4x4 searching for big stones.

He said he would get the lads to dig me some.

Just waiting on a call has he is delivering them this weekend hopefully. :)

That’s alright then, mates rates :D.

Are the big stones expensive from quarry? I imagine some of the local garden centres near me would charge 100’s easily for one :p

No idea

The local quarry is dropping a skip off of big stones. They have said I can just choose what I want and they will collect whats left :)

Made some changes and added a two way Valve..

This means I can drain the pond if I want and control flow

I also made the reservoir wider but shallower .I figured it would be easier to clean etc...

Looking good!

This really looks amazing! Would love to build something like this myself. But my entire gardens not much bigger than your pond!

I really like that you're going for natural UK species (Roach) instead of goldfish. You could do float fishing during the summer. :D

Yeah cheers guys...it has been EPIC biggest project I have ever done !

Used the Left over underlay to line the whole mound to prevent weeds. And have 2 x 1000 Litres of top soil incoming to finish it off. Ive got some more Massive stones incoming to to place around the banks...The pics never do the size of the boulders justice tbh.

Just need to line the bottom of the falls with stones and Foam in ...I had the pump running without foam and TBH it was fun but the watre just crept t the back of the stones.

Going to have a pool on ledge 2 I have decided and just need to sort the final spill stone for entry into the pond.

Got some heather's and ferns to plant within the Big boulders on the mound as a sea of Grass would just look odd

Im going to remove the side rocks from the back of the pond and just let nature take its place and allow the grass to grow over and cover the liner...The rocks look a bit naff IMO and all the rock action needs to be at the falls.

I may place the odd large bolder in the pond for Dragon fly etc....But I want the pond to just look like a grassy pool

I have one job that needs doing at the end...Notice Moss rock? Well I found this in the garden under a clump of hedges...Apparantly what I can do is Take a bit of moss of it, put it in my magimix blender with some natural yogurt and paint the surrounding rocks with it and VOILA! Mossy rocks...

Ageing the waterfalls very quickly! :D
