Well not really cause as soon as I upgraded to 3.0 on my 3G it appeared. :rolleyes:

You must have had one of the betas on beforehand.

If you had a beta, you could enable it on the normal 3G iPhones. If you then had it enabled when you updated to the GM 3.0 os, and restored from backup, you still had the battery meter.

If you didn't restore from backup, you lost it.
