Yes I like number 2 as well, definately looks like the remains of a bombed out town. One suggestion though, the tilt is a little off putting. Most Paint packages come with a tool to correct tilts on the horizontal and vertical planes and it doesnt take long to correct them.

I know you had only just got in and posted the results though :)

How about doing a little bit of cropping too. The building on the right is obviously more modern than the main ruin, (obviously the poles and wires give that away) - crop it out and try to put the main building on one of the intersection of thirds?

I really do like the sky on the shot though

i like the modern bit i made it look like theyd just built it to continue on with the great war lol but i totally agree with makeing it vertical!

I was thinking the same, great atmosphere.

Thanks for all your comments guys! I'll make the suggested changes ! :D

Thanks for the comments guys. I really don't know much about DSLR's. I'm still getting use to my A200.

I do like "detail" photography and close up shots. Im fascinated by it and its no surprise that im taking those type of pics. Think it has something to do with me being an engineer and liking the little details so to speak.

Anyway, heres some more experimental stuff:

how did you get such a shallow DOF with a F5.6 lens?

Like i said, im a beginner so i have no idea what your talking about :)
Not sure what you mean at all. Most of it is pure luck i guess. I just got as close as i could to the subjects and chose the lowest f number and quick shutter speed.
Do you normally need a smaller f lens to get a shallow depth of view?

Anyway, heres some more shot today. Shot with the kit and Tamron 55-200mm lens
