Thanks for the coments from all, they do help and make me look at things differently and hopefully help me inprove my photos.
I really should make coments on other peoples photos, but feel I don't know enough.

Quite like 'em, but looks on my monitor as though the shadow areas are slightly lacking darkness. Maybe try adjusting the levels a touch in photoshop?

Moths are great for macro, they dont move even when using flash. Pitty they're so ugly.

Armed now with a Sony A700 (having sold my A200) and a better understanding of my Sigma 10/20mm I headed back to the Quayside. Heres a handful of the pics I took today. I'm rather impressed with them. The Sigma has impressed me. All pics (if not 1 or 2) are shot at f/11 which I was told was the sweet spot and from the way the pics came out it would appear so! Another reason why I used f/11 is because its the "who cares aperture" as explained by Bryan Peterson in his book "Understanding Exposure". All shot in Aperture Priority mode as im not confident to use Manual mode or light metering.

Photoshop, very nice I think they are a bit too much HDR but that might just be me.

What guide are you using btw, you linked to it before but I cant find it.

Believe it or not, im only using HDR strength 50% on these pictures.
For these i used Photomatrix.

Awesome photos Photoshop, but just a bit much HDR imo. Would be much better toned down a little. :)

I wanted to go for the HDR look rather than a natural look as I wanted vibrant sky's and colours and more details in the shadows. Like i said, This is HDR at 50% strength.

I'm liking number 2 very much, good work.

Perhaps try a crop on no. 3 to get rid of the distracting background detail (colourful umbrellas in particular)

Thanks. No.3 doesnt have any umbrella's though....

Will post some non-HDR shots later

I've just borrowed a friend's Nikon D80 to use at work tomorrow.

First Digital SLR I've ever used, first shot I took:

I now realise why you chaps on here spend so much on cameras and lenses; my wallet is getting worried...

Oh sorry, well whatever it is in the background, the multicoloured thing.

I think think it would benefit from a crop.

Hope you don't mind me doing the quick edits below:
