Just a couple of photos that I have played with in Photoshop; the first is from a tutorial in Digital Photo magazine but I thought it looked quite cool and the second is a photo taken with an old point and shoot compact in Prague.

Hey Ricky,

Could you please post your method for obtaining that effect above please?

Use a hue/saturation layer in Photoshop with the "colorize" option and a hue of around 30, I also used a combination of adjusting levels and the burn tool to darken the sky. The first photo also has the crow and flock of birds superimposed from two other photos and quite a few other adjustments so they blend in nicely. As I mentioned, it's taken from this month's issue of Digital Photo that also has a really good guide on the CD.

Hope that helps, can go into more detail if you want :)

Thanks I think I've got that colour now but still need to work out how to get the sky darker, etc. I presume you masked out the rest of the image to avoid spoiling that one.

I'll look into the magazine as well.

First outing with my 2nd hand 10-22mm the other night. Lovely bit of kit :)

I quite liked this version as well - yellow channel removed in Lightroom

just got lightroom but not been able to do a shot like that how did you achieve it

It was done by moving the colour levels to the left under the Saturation sliders in your Develop pane.
I removed all the other colours (mostly yellow) and the boosted the red a wee bit. You are essentially making a mono picture by subtracting the colour.
Hope that helps... lots of tips on the Adobe website ;)
