Thanks both for the clarification, my friend recently got a 450d (after persuading me last year to buy a D90  :p as that was what he wanted then) so I recently looked for budget telephotos for him and must have got the different 7x-300 lenses mixed up.

Oh and thanks for taking the time to look through my flickr Jason :)

If your friend wants budget telephotos, look for the canon 55-250 with a 4 stop IS. I actually had this lens before the 70-300, and there is very little between them (70-300 very marginly sharper). There is a flickr section for the 55-250 it's an amazing budget lens.

Couple of light trails from Newcastle t'other night:

Another noob shot from the D3000. Just got myself a Yongnuo Yn460-II flash gun on Saturday (after 3 weeks from HK!) so learning about off camera flash etc even though I can only trigger it with my D3000 flash or use it on camera, it's already a lot of fun playing with lighting.

Wow Shoei, epic clouds!
Was that shot in 20mm? Would have been ace if you had a wider shot with more foreground to contrast it...

Yep, all done with the 20mm.
would love a wider lens, but a fast wide would be in the range of "sell a kidney" expensive.
The rest of the foreground was just mud, sorry lovely golden sand ;)

At some point i may get the 14-45 for the GF1 but the 20mm is so versatile and usefull in iffy light.

No guesses where I've just come back from: :)

That was one of the place I missed out on going when I went gallivanting around South East Asia :(

Cracking shot you've got there though :)
