Love the golf shot! Still haven't really used my tilt shift lens yet... need to get out with that soonish.

Just finished processing my favourite shot I took in Venice and I think it my be in the all-time top 3 of my photos... will post in the morning when i'm awake and have had a fresh look at it to see if I still love it :)

Extension tubes and a nifty fifty for the 1st, 24-70 the 2nd.

Love it. I'm seriously considering getting some tubes for my newly purchased 50mm 1.4. What are you using? I've got my eyes on Kenko Teleplus DG Extension Tube Set (12+20+36) for £102

I always strive to make my shots as sharp as possible but sometimes, in my personal opinion, sharpness isn't quite as important...

Nice one, reminds me of my old birthday photos as a kid.

I got some £8 extension tubes for my manual macro lens the other day, quite useful but a PITA to focus with. Did you use the extension tubes on the 24-70 as well?

I thought about getting the cheaper tubes but the nifty isn't manual and messing around with setting aperture, removing lens etc put me off. I tend to fix my focus and then just move the camera forwards\backwards. These shots were handheld but lying on the floor so easier to steady.

Yes the 24-70 had tubes on as well, it's a bit unwieldy though!

Thanks, the boat is in an odd location really but I keep forgetting to make a note of what the inscriptions on it say, sure its relevant. It's placed in an odd way that the cattle grid and tree/bushes beside it don't add to any shot of it I think so had to get a closer shot.

Some nice walks around here and a nice enough area to do them. Where do you stop off for tea, is there a tea room in the Castle grounds? I've not been inside yet (even with living here 10+ years) but plan to go now the flowers etc are out this Summer.[/QUO

It's about Henry the somethingth and battles?

Yep, tea room in old castle stables. We're English Heritage members so can get in for free. The new garden is well worth a look. ;)

I'll have a look and take a photo next time i am there.

You can partially see the gardens from some of the gates or higher vantage points around the castle and yes it looks very nice now, will be popping in one day soon :)

EDIT: actually I just remembered I took photos of it a few years back:
