Very quick snap from this morning as I opened the curtains to find this fella having some breakfast. :)

Couple of pics from the other night, bit of a wash out as the 24-70 wasn't happy with the sun! (well obviously it was my fault for not having a clue how to control the flare!)

One of mine from the BTCC test day at Croft Circuit today. Unfortunately the BTCC lad's weren't playing so the only cars were forumla renault, clio cup and ginetta g40's & g50's

Higher res and the rest of the gallery are here.

Cheers all :)

Stunning, esp. the second. Did you know you wanted this viewpoint or did you mess around with a few angles?

I was trying to get some sun flare shots using a ND filter but failing quite comprehensively, so tried a few more angles. I liked the shadows being cast by the fence so wanted to use it as a lead in, who says horizons should be level?! :)

tried a bit of panning last night at the British Cycle Tour round in Stoke, had some fun tryin different settings on the 40d

out of 150 shots i got about 95 i was happy with but found it hard to get a good
composition whilst panning so had to do a bit of cropping where needed. Great night
and a good race

They key here is to use the alternative focus points/manual focus.

Using any lens wider than 24mm at an aperture smaller than f/5.6 you might as well just manual focus.

If not then use peripheral points (especially the cross sensitive ones) and keep the rider/car on this point to create space.

The shots are great. Epic PP - whats the workflow? - Levels, vibrance/sat, export?

thanks for the tips p0ss3s3d, i always shoot raw and the pp was done in cannon dpp. You are spot on about the focus, on my 24mm i just set it to manual focus on infinity and everything from about 3 foot out is in focus so it makes for easy point n shoot I took my 85mm too and got some good results with that. The bikes averaged about 30mph around the circuit so head on shots were tough i found it best to pick a spot on the road-focus-set to manual and then wait for the bikes to cross that point.

Loving the graduation background... I'm hunting my area for something decent as my graduation background. Not going to pay some bloke £40 for 3 prints when I can do more for less (outside of studio environment of course)

Thanks Mr Jones :)
I went to Napier and the reception was held at their Craiglockhart campus, which has really, really nice grounds. That was just right next to the car park believe it or not!

Not sure of the colour of the last shot, think it might look maybe classier in straight B&W, what do you think?

The mono tone sepia works well in my eyes. I do have a preference for B&W but sepia works too :)
