The top half of that is really cool! I don't think the reflection does anything for the picture though. The top half could be a wallpaper :)

Pic I took on Iphone whilst out walking the dog this morning:

Really do need to get a DSLR, some beautiful photo opportunities around where I live!

Nice and sharp Steve!

I went to Box Freestone Mine with a few friends today, still going through my camera roll but here are a couple shot with my phone which I was very pleased with:

a lot of great pics but....

why so many over tweaks with ps?

if you having to tweak with ps its basically because the pic is weak in the first place. also another reason a lot use black and white as its easier to get away with it in black and white ;)

get the right shot .

Who are you referring to?

Either way, shooting RAW requires at least some element of "processing" because RAW captures are stored as neutral as possible by the camera. There is a workflow that follows this capture format as it's RAW data you're working with.

As for the last point, it's impossible to get the right shot out of the camera for many situations so people use workarounds like HDR or layer masking/blending and fix issues within the frame because it was not feasible to fix the error at the scene at that time.

Basically I don't agree with your point of view because my experience tells me otherwise and likewise others will agree I'm sure having had similar experiences over the years and from what I've seen posted on this forum and many others where there's a strong community presence where people share experiences, tips and ideas.

And the black and white comment, people use BW to take away any colour aspect and let the viewer focus on the subject as it gives another sense of depth compared to colour. Yes, some people do overuse it like HDR posts on DeviantArt (and the like :p) but used well, it works brilliantly and isn't a cop-out for the reason you're trying to assume! Also it's not as simple as going Colour > Saturation > -10 for black and white, again, there's a process to follow to get the right level of contrast, highlight and shadow detail for each individual thing being turned into BW.

Though it is your opinion and you're entitled to it of course :)

I'm amazed in this day and age that there are views such as this.

Editing has absolutely nothing to do with getting the shot right, a boring shot heavily edited is still boring.

I for one am happy to edit in anyway I see fit, I enjoy embracing the tools available to me and love messing around with different techniques to attain different results.

i got one of them fancy nd grad filters from cokin and this is one of my shots with it. I fixed it to my lens with a ring of blue tak and it takes around 2 stops off the sky to even out the exposure.
