First off - No trolling, no spamming, no comments about DX10 or anything in this new thread! The last one was trashed by the above so lets keep this to 7950 GX2 owners only.

Only post if you own a 7950 GX2 or have a good question about them. This is afterall an Owners Thread...

I figured that becuase this is all brand new technology that there should be an owners thread.

I got my card a week ago (before it was realised infact... ;) ) and had a couple of problems trying to install it.

I got the XFX XXX version and my problem was this;

Uninstalled my ATi Drivers.
Removed x1900xt-x
Installed 7950 GX2
Started machine, put CD in.. Comp Froze.
Downloaded 91.28 drivers, started to install and then "Error: There are no drivers installed on this PC to support your Hardware".
Put XFX cd in spare rig copied the 91.27 drivers onto a memory stick.
Put memory stick into main Rig and installed drivers with out a charm.

So, if you are encountering problems with install try this.

1) Copy the 91.27 drivers onto a CD or USB stick from a spare machine
2) Paste drivers into the main Rig
3) Disable all Anti-virus / firewall (and remove connection to the internet)
4) Install drivers
5) Once drivers are installed go into the Run (Windows button and R) and type in "msconfig" and press enter.
6) In the services tab click the "Hide all Microsoft services" and then un-tick all bar the nVidia options. Don't forget which ones were ticked!!!
7) In the startup tab once again untick all bar the "nv" options. Don't forget which ones were ticked!!!
8) Apply the changes and exit the programme and restart. On reboot select the "don't display this again" button.
9) Check that all drivers are installed, adjust resolution accordingly.
10) Restart comp, make sure all is how it should be.
11) Reverse steps 5, 6, 7 and 8.

Latest 91.31 Beta drivers here

Once that is done you will be well away.

Now onto some brutal facts.

1) These cards do use SLi to link themselves togther. So for games that don't harness them you won't take advantage of this full power of this item.
2) It is silent
3) This is a very fast card.
4) I don't regret getting it over my x1900xt-x

All I have had time to to this evening is one 3D06 benchy and I got this.

I don't think its that bad tbh.

I'll post more tomorrow - Let me know what you want this card to do, apart from clocking, and i'll try and get it done for you.

Thanks for reading.

I thought you were getting over 10k with your new card m8? Was that overclocked at all?

Gotta say im really tempted to ditch my 6800GT's and just get a one card solution.

Hi Scoob,

I haven't broken the 10K barrier yet 'cos I haven't started to clock the card yet. I think the ambient temp is way too high. I'm wondering what WC blocks I can get for it.

@Agent WD40

What are your idle temps for the card? At the moment mine is hovering around the 55-58 degree mark which I thought was quite high compared to my old(er) 7800 GTX.

Granted the temps outside for the past few days have been very warm, as was my computer room. But I thuoght 58 degrees was a bit high..

Nope, mine is the same (pretty much!).

Could be down to the fact these cards are clocked HEAVILY!!

Nope, tend not to bother - unless I replace the coolers.
Must admit I'm tempted to replace the coolers - but how the hell do you get the cards appart!

Anyhow, to aid cooling and quietness, I've strapped a 120mm akasa quiet fan to the grill on the Tt Shark, to blow cooler air over the cards - seems to have helped a lot (5c down).

Go on change my mind :D

Well look at the reviews, it whoops a single GTX by over 20+ frames, even more when the resolution, and eye candy is cranked up.

I have 3x 80mm Fans blowin on my card :p

What, from the side of the case - you got one of the new stackers?

I'll see how I get on with the one extra 120mm, but I've got room for more if needs be :)

Well... Nice spec. We know that the card shouldn't be CPU limited. What monitor are you using? If you using a monitor that can't kick out 1280x1024 there is no point.

If, however, you are wanting to play stupid high res games with all the eye candy turned up to the max you'd better look at the 7950.

I went from my x1900xt-x to this card and I haven't looked back. The performance boost with FEAR ('cos I haven't played with any thing else) is mad! I'm running at 1600x1200 with max AA(x6), AF (x16) and soft shadows on it runs super smooth. Only had one point where is dropped down to 25 FPS (was a high detail scene, can't remember where).

Any more questions give me a shout.

Agent.

good idea agent, can you post some clean game benchies please?

hl2, fear, cod2 etc.

:) it would be a good comparison for people who want this card as well, as 3d mark isnt my fav game.;)
