The Radeon RX 6900/6950 XT Owners Thread.

Just got my toxic to hit 2666hz average :)

Update now got it running at 2720

Only thing limiting me is power linmit can only put it up by 15

2720?!?!

Blimey. I remember when AMD/Radeons had a hard time hitting/keeping 1500 or so (not so very long ago) and here's me thinking I might keep my incoming 6800XT at stock... Nah, it's a peacock, let it fly...

yea cant get it any higher stable running on Heaven Benchmark im now hitting power limit so yea but for a card thats game bosts to 2365 not bad. this little toxic is amazing :)

It's a beaut tbh, and that OC should place it very close to stock/ref 6900XT. I had a 1070 a few years ago that breathed right down the neck of 1080 FE, so it's nice when it happens.
I couldn't stretch to a Toxic myself but I managed to get it's little brother (Nitro+ SE) a couple of days ago right here on OCUK. That's an unusual stroke of good luck for me tbh as trying prebuilders had me waiting 1-2 months for either a ref or Speedster Merc but the Nitro+ cards have always been my favourite AMD ones going by looks and reviews, even if the last time I had an AMD GPU was about 15 years ago (X1300 iirc)

Its a 6900xt Toxic i am breathing down the necks of 3090's :)

This is my 2nd all amd build last one was 2012 then always had nvidia and intel but this pc i built 3 days ago is a beast :)

Did anyone tried Metro Exodus Enhanced? Using Ltmatt's nice oc settings as always, :) , it gets me over 105 C at Junction!! Thats the very first game that happens that. Usually hovers around 78-85 and core around 60. Even without MPT and +15% plimit which gets me around 330 watt with MERC Black , I see 92-95 Junction temp. Maybe is the Raytracing its using ? Cause putted all settings Ultra and VSR x2 . Did not get impressed with the graphics though,

Oops, brainfart. Pardon me. My brain has a 6800XT fixation rn. First AMD card in a long time AND most I've ever spent on either a GPU or system as a whole. It's crazy lol but pretty much the level of gaming I had intended when I built 5 years ago and had to hold back on.

i just spent £3500 on a whole build would have loved to step up to the 5950 but i lacked the funds but due to all the stuff happaning i would have got the card for around £1000 instead of £1800. But times are tough and waiting for it was to long. September was when i placed order for 3080. 5 days ago i gave in and got the toxic :)

Ah, pretty much the same story here tbh.

The 6800XT Nitro+ SE is the most expensive part at £1200 instead of the £100-150 it might've been over MSRP in normal times but them's the breaks. Aside from that the rest, which I'm still going for as a prebuilt to save both money and time, plus a spare SSD I already had, case fans I'm doing myself (cos I was told it couldn't be done the way I'd like) and a 1440UW monitor and wireless RGB kb all comes to about £3500 give or take when I run it up on ************ but I'm saving a bit off that the way I'm doing it (for example if I bought the fan kit from the builder it'd be 75-100% more than buying outside that and I'd still have to install it myself either way) End of the day, I just didn't want to wait an extra 1-2 months at least for stock availability and that's got to be worth a few quid extra.

Well I said goodbye to my 6900xt last week in favour of the 3080FE I managed to pick up for MSRP.

It was a tough decision as I could have sold either for similar money but in the end, the ability to use RT and mining performance of the 3080 swung it for me.

I'll let myself out :D

How does everyone get max/sustained clocks on their 6900XT's ?

Whats the process.
By doing the following:

1. Increasing the power limit in Radeon Software to +15%.
2. Keeping temperatures as low as possible.
3. Undervolting can help a higher average clock speed, only if you are power limited.
3. If you are power limited at your desired clock frequency/voltage, using More Power Tool (MPT) to increase power limit available to the GPU.

4 will ultimately give you the best chance of maintaining a high as possible average core clock frequency, but you run the risk of damaging the GPU by extending the power limits beyond the factory settings.

All I know is that I can play CP for more than 15 minutes without it crashing on my 6900xt (Averaging 75-90fps with Ultra settings, RT turned off).

I think that was the right choice as your 6900 XT sounded like it was faulty.

I think you've misunderstood - I said I *can* play for more than 15 minutes (I couldn't on my 3090, which has no issues with the sim racing titles I use it for)

Although I think the issue was more power related than anything else.

Ah yes, I butchered your quote and missed out a line, well enjoy your new GPU.

Yeah i just left everything on default and was getting speeds of 2470-2540 in heaven but it wasnt running 100% utilization.

I was getting the higher end when playing fortnite.

I've currently OC'd my 6800XT to around 2680-2700Mhz using Wattman and MPT (increasing the power output to 310w) so with a 15% boost, sometimes it can push as high as 360w on the GPU chip power draw depending on the game. With an additional 40-45w for board power, it can bring the total power to around 400w. Given it's a 2x8 PIN reference model, would you say this is safe to run in games given the 375w rated limit on this sort of setup or would you dial it back a bit?

Unfortunately, my 6800xt order at msrp was cancelled with this message.

"We had to cancel your recent order.

Unfortunately, due to concerns, the item listed below has been removed from the site.
You haven’t paid yet, which means there’s nothing you need to do. We've also taken the step of cancelling your order."

How long is a piece of string?

The only safe value is the factory default, which is 255W. +15% power limit is 293W. Anything beyond that is at your own risk.
