The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

Yours is a 9070 isn’t it? Different GPU to the 9070 XT.
never the less, a think a 26c differance is not ok.
what are you seeling can you show MSI after burner shots.

a GPU at 60c would be hitting the throttle limit.. with HS of 86c, thats not ok

so in game he needs to be around 54c to not throttle....

gddr6 throttle temp is 105c with my memory at 2800mhz it only hits high 80's so i dont see there been a problem

well its not mine is 11c at the most

This all you? So what is it, are you getting VRAM in the high 80s… but it’s not a problem? Or is a delta of 26c concerning? Or is your delta really only 11c?

If it’s the latter you core must be running in the high 70s, given the information you posted earlier.

the gpu is at around 48 or 49 at worst i think was the worst i had on hte gpu so hot spot in the mid to upper mid 70s i think this was only during stress testing it doesnt go up there when doing normal stuff that ive seen maybe i need to do some more testing

i just finished gameing at 65c with a hot spot of 76c.

who is talking about ram? the guys GPU hot stop is 26c higher... you said that fine so id like to see you 26c hot spot off set?
what i said was if he was gamig and had a gpu temp of 60c with a 26c of hotspot differance he with be throttleing at 86c.

again you said a 26c differance is ok?
so to not throttle he would have to be gaming at 54c

Yes, 26c delta between GPU core and hotspot is perfectly fine on a 9070 XT. I am seeing core temps no more than 55c after prolonged gaming. Hotspot is about 79c, VRAM about 86c (this is at stock for testing).

Yeah, should be fine. My 9070 XTs Pulse sits around that on the hotspot and a bit warmer on the core.

so your 5c away from throttleing? with a core at 55c..
i have to be honest a dont think thats ok.

your core is at 55c and you have zero head room to do anything, the next gen of games and your nailed
ive said this before i can only assume i have a golden sample but i genuinally think a 24/26c core to hotspot differance is not ok

No it won’t, Christ what is it with all the FUD tonight. I’m not trying to be confrontational but you are giving really poor advice that gets people RMAing perfectly good GPUs. Or even worse when they ruin their warranty to reseat the GPU to get 4c lower temps. Their GPU will not be throttling unless the Hotspot is hitting over 100c, same for VRAM.

yeah it seems consistently 26 difference when on like a 20 minute flat out stress test its almost predictably 26 degrees it seems
when not doing a stress test its more like 10 degrees or something.
il keep an eye on it does seem im not the only one with similar results
all seems stable so il stop worrying and get back to playing i guess lol

Repasted my Taichi with PTM7950 today funnily enough. The factory paste job wasn’t great with bare spots.

Desktop idle core temp went from 36c to 28, and also at idle the delta is only 3c (31c)

In gaming, the hotspot has reduced about 12c from 88c to 75-76c on average. Delta has reduced from 40c to 23-25c. I personally don’t think you’ll get a much lower delta than that on these cards. It’s the nature of the die and construction.

25c - 30c is about the normal delta for hotspot (give or take a few Celsius). VRAM can be low 30s delta.

At idle/light browsing the VRAM is actually by far the hottest. Core sits at around 28c as said, but VRAM is 54c. I am pushing the memory hard though.

At high loads, the overall hotspot overtakes the VRAM temp.

I must say that the VRAM pads were great when I opened it though. Very good quality and didn’t break.

There’s going to be variations of around 5c give or take, even between the same GPUs, because we all have different PCs being used in different environments etc.

But by and large a 9070 XT gaming temps at stock:

55c - 60c core clock
75c - 85c Hot spot
80c - 90c VRAM

Anyone else find Optiscaler amazing, but a ballache? . I keep having to update my games with the nightly builds and it’s largely down to luck whether it works perfectly or not. I often get severe ghosting when moving and have to reset the settings etc to remedy it.

Also had flickering with movement on Silent Hill 2 and took me forever to work out that selecting ‘FSR Non Linear SRGB Output’ totally got rid of it. I suspect that’s because I’m on a 10bit display, 4:4:4 and HDR.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing bit of software, but I can’t wait until more games implement it natively.

Must try that on AC Shadows as I get a lot of ghosting with FSR4.

Yeah, I’m not sure what causes the really bad ghosting sometimes. Resetting/reapplying settings almost always alleviates it, but it’s annoying. Don’t think it’s FSR4 itself, but Optiscaler.

It’s incredible as said, but far from seamless, and there’s just too many ‘hoops’ and quirks to make it an easy experience sometimes.

When it works perfectly with the right game though? Holy moly. FSR4 is incredible.

Absolutely agreed. I’ve been finding FSR4 native to be worth about 20% - 30% extra performance. I get to use balanced and even performance and it always looks better than FSR 2 or 3 quality.

At 4K FSR quality would class as useable and OK. But FSR4 just slaps it silly due to the lower settings basically giving a generational uplift in performance.

Question for you guys , would a 9070xt be a good pairing for a 4k projector ? Watch loads of movies which it will have little impact on but BF1 on my 4k pj might be tempting.
