The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

you also have to take into account fan speed, bad thermal contact and many other factors.
with an heavy OC my ram dosnt hit the temps they got running at stock???

we all know that one lad that had to RMA a GPU for running at 100c out of the box. if they had tested 10 and got the same results then thats more conserning but still the temp is not realy a problem temp
No, 100 degs definitely would have me worried though. That would 100% be going back. Mine also doesn't reach those temps with a heavy VRAM OC, +10% PL and stock fan profile, I've got a case with some good airflow though.

You can see the Nitro uses the backplate to help VRAM temps if it has airflow cooling it, the Pulse doesn't. Easy fix with some addition of thermal pads though, weird why they wouldn't just add them. The Pulses contact plate seems to be made up of two parts, where they use different material for the VRAM and Core.

What card was it that was RMA'd with those temps?

I did read the article and I’m telling you as someone who owns a 9070 XT Pulse, that the VRAM temperature is NOT a problem. I also gave you multiple scenarios of how the temperature behaves. Stock, max PL overclock and with a more aggressive fan curve.

I don’t know how else to tell you my experience is the Pulse VRAM temperature (or hot spot) actually DO NOT cause any throttling.

I mean according to Techpowerup, the Nitro + has worse VRAM temperatures than the Pulse. The reality is these temperatures seem to be a design feature of the 9079 XT. Mid 80s and even higher are normal.

I wouldn't take these reviews as gospel as there's likely to be variation in the millions of units out there. I don't think I've ever seen the memory on mine go that high. Here's a snapshot of the max temps on my Pulse after a gaming session.

bro you have a 24c differance in gpy temp and hot spot

Yep, exactly. But ultimately it’s fairly certain that the 9070 XT is designed to run with what many consider (wrongly) to be unsafe temperatures.

my hot spot readings when at full load stress test seems to be consistently 26 higher than the gpu temp highest temp ive seen so far is 89 on hte memory ive been messing about im -45mv atm power limit+10 everything else stock and it seems to be down 2 or so degrees il double check properly in a bit
is a difference of 26 for the hotspot concerning? it still doesnt tend to go above 80 on the hotspot though iirc

I wouldn't say it's concerning. I think it's pretty normal.

Would a 9070xt be a good upgrade from a 3080ti? I've no brand loyalty and have had nvidias for many generations now. Theres absolutely nothing wrong with my 3080ti if im honest but I can always pass that on to my son

there is a few in this thread that have made that upgrade and found it to be a good upgrade.
i went 4070s to 9070 and have goten aboiut 20% uplift

Thanks! Have enabled this and then upped the resolution to 4K in games like Elden Ring and it looks fantastic even on a 1080p screen at 60 fps. Now im hitting 3100 core and 99% gpu usage.

It will offer you options and buy you some time till you go AM5. I will have to do that upgrade probably later this year.

I did this upgrade and have been really happy with it. 25-30% uplift with much better Ray Tracing. I'm 1440p ultra wide and gave a nice bump in performance.
