The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

Trying to get my reaper through time spy but not liking -150mv +100 core. Heat isn't an issue must be silicone quality. Doh

Try with +0 on core with -150mv, if you are going for big undervolt then dont touch core, if you want higher +core give it more power. I've got +500 core -75uv, 2766 (2750 after offset) Fast Ram 10% power stable but it seems the performance is better with +0core and -150uv same ram settings. Still testing.

Gigabyte Aurous Elite 9070xt + 9800x3d.

Timespy Extreme GFX 16248 with 170uv

Timespy Extreme GFX 15904 with +500core

First AMD GPU I have been excited for since preordering my r9 290. Feels good to be back :)
That's made me try and remember by last time on AMD.

Think I was 980Ti - 1080 - 3070FE - 3090FE

Not been on AMD since 7970 I don't think. Happy to give them some cash, I like the direction AMD have taken - solid midrange card, decent amount of VRAM, actually exists.

Upping the core clock will not do anything if the GPU is already thermal throttling. It simply cannot boost any further. It’s also why the boost clocks can change based on how demanding a game is on the GPU. More demanding games cause more heat and lower boost clocks (generally).

- Set a lower core voltage
- Increase Fan speed
- Set a higher power limit

Any one (or all) of these might affect core clocks.

That's the thing though, it's not thermal throttling. It's barely reaching over 60-65c depending on the bench or game. Ideally it has a load of headroom to go further but undervolting is the only thing that seems to do anything to increase the core clocks. This is also with max power limit 110 set so there must be something in the Vbios that's not configured right imo. Waiting to see what Debauer comes back with on a follow up video.

Loving all these Timespy benches.

Granted your CPUs are better and as such upping your scores but you're kinda matching and betting my 5070TI but one thing is for sure ... you'll never beat the price +£300
I have a lowly 13500. Not exactly top tier. But I'm trying to wring the next of this reaper. Upto +200 on core now. N playing with memory a bit. Been a while since played around with timespy. Christ I'm 56yrs, so done my time overclocking

My apologies, I should have said TDP throttling and thermal. In order for the boost clocks to increase you need to have the TDP overhead.

This is achieved by reducing the voltage, or increasing the TDP power limit. The temperatures are important because the card still needs to be kept cool of course.

Crossfire 7970's... ah those were the days, am I old or was those times way more exciting for PC gaming?

One of my most psychopathic builds was a tri-fire setup with a 295x2 and a single 290x. I recall it even tripping my bohemith Ethermax 1500w PSU from time to time. All in a custom oak case that looked like an antique radio (that is now part of the decor of a bar in Brooklyn).

It was way more fun back in the day. mGPU, eyefinity, unlocking shaders to make your mid-range GPU high range...

If mGPU was still a thing, I definitely ha e dual 9070 xts now.

Is it software limit, clock slider won't go that high?

I just did a -100mv and left everything else stock and the card is boosting higher. AMD says the boost clock on a non XT is 2.7, so I think the card is about right?

Previously at stock settings:

Now with -100mv:

Max Freq + 300Mhz
-100mv
Power limit +10%

I have to say although my Time spy scores are a bit average, I am really impressed with the ray tracing performance on this card. The Port Royal and Nomad scores seem to be pretty decent for a 9070 with some quick tweaks.

Posted in driver thread but post here too:

Twice after starting my PC I've had to reapply the overclock on my 9070. Has anyone experienced similar?

that do for now
+300mhz -110mv mem 2700 fast timings, max temps hotspot 79 mem 86

Pulse 9070xt swapped in for my Evga 3080. Nice bumped in benchmarks and the 2 games I’ve played have better fps. Only downside is it had coilwine, not a massive issue as I use a headset but disappointing.

You've got a couple options with coil whine. Essentially, run the GPU at full beans for an extended period of time, let it cool & idle, then start another cycle. I have done 30min-1hr at a time, it helped my 7900XT coil whine significantly.

Otherwise, limit frame rate to your monitor's output (or slightly below) and consider undervolting.

Cheers I’ll give the extended run a go. I’ve undervolted already a bit.

As I said it’s not really an issue since I use a headset and games I don’t like football manager I can’t see it being an issue given the low graphic demand.
