Nanite Factory
A nanite factory is the ultimate evolution of robotics. Every upgraded level provides for more and more efficient nanites to increase the speed of construction.
Requires: Metal:1.000.000 Crystal:500.000 Deuterium:100.000
Production time: 2 days 6h 32m 43s

My comp tech level 10 research will be done in approx 2 hours 38 mins. My fleets will be returning in 3 hours 20 mins, and assuming Speedsim is right, and no-one beats me to the res, I'll be able to build the nanite factory the moment they get home (and still have about 100k metal and 100k crystal to spare). Might pump it into plasma tech, I fancy getting some plasma cannons as defence.

LOL - Look at the stats page...

You don't want to be probing him! :p
(4th in Uni3)
And have a look in the CR section in the forums, or search for Midget Gems on the forums...

His fleet is HEYOOOOGE.

Seems like a nice enough chap tho. :)

Aye, been chatting to him. A bit lacking in humour but seems friendly enough, think my probe put the wind up him ! :D

I told him if he misbehaves then frostie is going to come get him.......thats allright isnt it frostie? ;)

I have been trying to gauge what sort of fleet size I need to be a force to be reckoned with generally speaking...

I know it is a growing universe all the time but I get the impression there are limits to useful sizes, after all they need lots of fuel to keep moving about if you cant find a suitable planet/fleet to target.

I am guessing the best part of 300BS plus fodder to avoid fleet crash from run of the mill fleets...anyone got any comments to this? Seems to me the best way is to send them on very slow trips while you are building up, adding newly completed ships every few days until you get to the number you want ?

At my rate of raiding and with 5 shipyards I expect to be able to build around 10-15 a day, when it is built then I can go crash a big target and get some payback on the resources invested.

Anyone got any comments re this strategy? Things I should consider? Something I have missed?

I love this game !! :)

I personally think you need a more balanced fleet, my current main attacking fleet is 8BS, 30Cruisers and 80HF's, once i've got around 15BS i'll start again on heavy fighters and cruisers before increasing the battleships again...

Might be different when i get bigger, but it seems to be working atm :)

HF rather than LF ?

I got the impression that fighters (regardless of size) were merely there to reduce the odds of your capital ships being hit, the likelihood being that a hit from one of the big guns in the fleet will kill a fighter regardless of its size ?

was intending to have a fleet roughly in the ratio of 10BS - 2 CR - 100LF

standing by will be a ready supply of LF and RECY of course.

I have to say the main struggle with having lots of colonies is keeping them all fed. 8 Fleets at a time isnt enough to keep them all raiding and keep resources going to all. Too many targets, too few fleets !

fighters are cannon fodder, your better off getting a lot of light fighters instead of spending on heavy fighters at this stage in the game

earlier today i was simulating some battles

20 battleships, 5 bombers and i wont with no losses

20 battleships, 5 bombers and 5 heavy fighters, i only had 2-3 heavy fighters left by the end of the battle !

your better off with a lot of battleships 2bh

Fleets - Yep... From what I can gather - Fighters are best used as fodder.
£/Fodder use, the LF's win hands down.
But if your fleet consisted of many HF's instead... And they don't have too many big ships... Then theoretically, they may absorb more damage than the LF's. (Shields go back to full every combat round)
But everyone else seems to use LF's - Primarily as fodder.
But I'd like to see the CR's from a fleet with lots of HF's instead.

Research your comp tech - Up to lvl10.
That means 10 fleetslots for raids, one for fleet/res saving. :)

And I've left most of my colonies to their own devices.
Shunt a wee bit of res between them if one is drastically short of one resource... But only 3 of my planets are currently being used for raiding...

Im stilll using my main planet for rading, just have one or two cargo ships at each colony to transport it all back home at the end of the day, or shuffle between each other.

When the income dries up around my home planet I can move them all to a colony for raiding . Early growth has been very quick with overnight resource drops to colonies to cover building during the day, would just like to get enough raids going each day to keep every one supplied with enough for 2BS and odds and sods.

With one big fleet crash I can get the big research or building entries I need and put my ships back into hiding. I dont like slow resource build ups, encourages people to come raid me !

Only had one raid on me so far, he outmatched me hugely and I fully intend payback in the future. :D

From my use of speedsim so far in the game heavy fighters sway a battle more than light fighters, i tend to lose, at most, 1-2 heavy fighters, no losses to cruisers or battleships yet...

Maybe against bigger fleets i'd lose more and then maybe light fighters would be better as they are cheaper to lose, but from adding light fighters into the equation in speedsim my losses just shoot up for no real gain...

And on a different note i'm being attacked, not surprising, all my fleet was away and i've got ~300k metal and crystal at my planet, odd thing though is:

The fleet consists of 49 ships. ( Large Cargo Ship, Battle Ship, Colony Ship, Recycler) The mission is attacking

a colony ship and recycklers on attacking duty, now thats just odd...

Recalled my fleet from it's fleet crashing mission (where i'd only lose 11-12 heavy fighters btw, against 27 cruisers, in light fighter terms those cruisers could take out 81 ish fighters per round), should be able to beat him so i'll hopefully get a reasonable debris field :p

He's in my solar system, 2:277:6,

i was able to attack him when i got to around 2500 points, so he can't be that big, think he just saw the resources with very little defence and decided to risk it, but my cruisers/bs/hf's will be home 6 minutes before he gets here, should be enough time to send all my resources away :)

should be good fun :p

I'm probing him now, and my fleet returns in 90 mins, so I can send 50 LF's, 11HF's, 50Cruisers and 10BS's his way if needed.
