Just sent out 2 Large cargo to attack soemone with about 50k of res sitting there, and esp report he only has Lvl 1 mines all round, must have been sitting there for weeks and months !!!
Or it's just a colony - and he's sent the resources there...

I've seen quite a few inactives with planets like that.

Probably peeps who have setup, tried it for a bit, not liked it, not played again.

You'll see quite a few lvl1's and 2's kicking about now and then.

But also some lvl15 or 20 mines. :D

Bah, had a great target lined up, was going to give me about 1.5mil resources in 3 waves, and I get there to find he fleet/res saved at the very last second, meaning I got 0 for every attack. I don't care if he's 400 places above me, I'm going to tear him a new one for that.
I'm getting closer to him now. Attacked him again tonight, and instead of my usual 0,0,0, I got a couple thousand of each, so I guess he had to fleetsave and disappear. I wonder if he's still around now :D

I'm well on my way towards nanites now and I just realised that i don't have enough ships to res. save it all.
If you don't get scanned often you might be alright to leave some lying around while the rest is saved.

Hope you get it though, I love my nanite level 2, get battleships built in 36 mins :D

Thats the problem, I do get scanned and its usually by the top players. I am nearly in the top 150 of uni 7 so its the big boys with massive fleets that I am worried about.

I have got some of my colonies building large cargoes so I might be ok, although I have loads more due back from raids. One guy must have sent his fleet off on a massive save and left his main planet alone while he was on holiday as he had quite good defences and loads of res. He is now about 550K lighter and not a lot of defence left, that will teach him not to go into vacation mode

Disaster, i have got to go out and see a customer for a few hours and i have 900K on the planet and more coming, Nooooooo

Just been scanned as well :(

Can you not spend a lot of it on a building, and research, then cancel them when you get back?
What's left over might fit in the cargo's.

Should i increase my storage units to accomodate enough res so i can save for nanites, or should i not bother and keep the extra res i would have spent on upgrading to building nanites. I know i'll over fill them and production will be halted, but is it worth upgrading them anyway for the future? About level 6 on metal and crystal.

Also i remember reading in this thread (probably a good 40 odd pages back now :p) about someone making a spreadsheet for keeping notes. Hopefully my memory serves me well, i cant seem to find much on it atm. Was it ever finished and if so could i borrow a copy. I'm very bad a knowing who i have hit and when, and sometimes i scan people and forget they are good targets as they get lost in the in-game message system.

I keep a written note in a notebook of who I've hit. Creating an Excel spreadsheet would be pretty easy if you spent 5 mins on it. I only use a written version so I can use it no matter where I am, even if it's jumping on a friend's pc for 10 mins.

i keep a notepad file for my espionage and an excel file updated weekly for the top 1500 so i can check alliance strength and individual player strength.. just to check i dont hit the #1 guys colony with no defence then later find hes coming after me with 1000 battleships :p

Yeah you need lots of moons and jumpgates to play the debris field game. Unless one springs up in your solar system or maybe only a few away. A three hour trip is still a very long time!

Personally i'd rather use a fleet slot raiding, it seems more profitable.
Depends on the debris field: ;)
"Your 18 recyclers have a total load capacity of 360000. On the target field 1.4228e+06 metal and 418400 crystal are drifting in space. You have collected 180000 metal and 180000 crystal." :D

Just a shame I didn't have more recyclers on that planet.

If you think you're going to have that amount of resources lying around frequently - then get more storage. If you think it's a one off whilst you save for nanites, then it's not worth it.

Most people at least note down the coords of their targets somewhere (on paper, Notepad, Excel, or wherever). Other things you may want to note down include:
  1. How many resources did they have at the last probe?
  2. If they have defences or a fleet, what are they?
  3. How good are the mines? (tells you how frequently to bother probing them)

Bah, need more crystal! I'm just 39k crystal away from being able to research Hyperspace Engines level 6 (Destroyers here I come baby!), and my recyclers carrying about 60k don't get back for another 3 hours. I want to start research now damnit!

would offer to loan you the resources but it'd take me 3 hours to get them to you, and a fleet slot

so do it yourself you impatient git :p

also matey what score you on now ?

I know I'm impatient, I just wanted to kick the research off before I left work, now I have to come back online later to do it :p

Score wise, just passed 40k, ranked 785 :)

lol, I'd thought it would have gone by now (I did that harvest as a fleet save last night).
I've just checked though, and 1 million metal is still there.
4:75:4

My 18 recyclers have been sent back out. :p

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I'll keep storage as it is now, if i do start loosing production regulary it wont hurt too much to update then.

Thats another good point i'm gonna start keeping stuff on record now, is there anything else i should be noting down you think? I may do separate files/books whatever for each of my own planets. I may also make a "hit list" too.

Phew, I got away with it. I moved what res I could on a slow journey to a colony. I got my boss to sit and keep an eye on my account with STRICT instructions on what to do if anything happened. :D
