Ahhh, I see. That makes sense.

Can you send recyclers with your main fleet or do they have to be sent after the main attack. Is the only reason people do that to stop the recyclers being destroyed?

You sent recyclers before the attack, since they are slower. And recyclers cannot be attack when on DF missions, can't get attacked then can't get destroyed.

Further to that...

You need to send the recyc's to the DF, NOT Planet.
They head off, then some time later you send your fleet to create a bigger DF.
Your recyc's then come along and collect the DF your attacking ships just made. :)

If there is no DF to send your ships to... Then send 1 probe on an attacking mission to create a DF for you to send the recyc's to. :)

Ah okay. I get you.

I think I might have to find some good targets again. I am starting to need way more resources than I can get from un-defended planets.

Gal 8 or Uni 8 ?

We are all in Uni 3, you would be pretty lonely in Uni 8. We also have a forum for Uni 3 as well.

fair enough maybe I should resign up on uni 3, this seems like the type of game where you need some help.

Just a point on defences. Always think that your defence isnt there to win, its there to make a hit unprofitable.

I have defences that mean I can leave several million in resource on my planet as the cost to win it far exceeds the resource. Also I know I can leave small fleets planetside for the same reason, but I can never leave my full fleet as that would be very profitable.

I have been playing around in DragoSim; what does the "Def to debris" option mean? I assume it means does the destroyed defense gets added to debris, but should this be on or off as the difference is huge!

Defences NEVER leave a DF.
So leave it disabled.
And turn the # of sims up to 500 odds. :)

And further to Funkey M's post - When I recieved my moon (due to being distracted for 2 hours) the DF was about 3 or 4 mill of res.
But the attacker only made 400k profit.

That was with reasonable defences.

I would only get a token defence until you have the need for more defence.

I use a fortified planet to send res to overnight, and recycle from.
(So I can get to bed!)
But you need far more spent on the defence than what you will have stored there to ensure that it will be safe.

hi all, if i send a transporter ship full of resources to a new colony that doesn't have a shipyard will the new colony still receive those resources. Also, when i sent the colony ship off in the first place i filled it with resouces and sent it to colonise. and i cant seem to see whats happened to it all. its definitely not showing up - the resources that it - that they're there!

any comments on this would be helpful..... cheers

^^

Yep, even if you don't have a shipyard you can still transport to your new colony.

You CAN'T send resources in your colony ship though, as you've found out - they dissapear :p

Might be worth it dude. A good set of buddies like we have in Uni 3 is invaluable in this game.

I'm being attacked by Absent, he's ranked number 1 LOL.
Any way, I've fleet saved, and got a couple of recyclers ready for the debris field that will result in the small number battleships I'll destroy. He's sending 1990 Battleships and 53 bombers. Unless he's got his tech levels at 21, I'll be able to take out at least 1 token battlship, \/\/oot!!!111

Edit - He can't be sending any recyclers though as there is no debris field around my planet (well, he could, but it looks unlikely) so I guess it's a revenge attack :/

Edit #2 - Threat over, he's seen the light and gone home, phew. Though part of me is a little disapointed, as I wanted to take out 1 of his battleships :D

What are peoples views on the makeup of a fleet? At the moment, I`m only building Heavy Fighters and Battleships, in a approx 10:1 ratio. But I`ve no idea if this is a good idea or not.

I`ve seen other fleets are are entirely battleships and some that are almost entirely fighters. Which, if any is best?

Stu

Heavy fighters aren't great tbh. They're very expensive for what they are.

I'm going for an average amount of cruisers, possibly the same in battleships, half that in bombers and the same amount of destroyers.

For fodder I'll be going with as many I can afford without disrupting the output of everything else. Don't forget enough cargos and recyclers though.

Looking at the stats, I think you`re right. Battleships it is, though cruisers look good against light fighters. Guess it depends what you`re up against.

Already worked out that recyclers are useful. So far, only been sending them off picking up other peoples debris fields. In fact, just this minute collected 24k of metal and 8k of Crystal. They`ve already paid for themselves several times over

hi all,

i know if u havn't got the capacity to store resources then its stops your mines - well once you've reached about 10% of you max capacity - but if someone sends you a load of resources.... say 250K of crystal and you can only hold 150K will it just go red and give it to u anyway?

cheers

:)

Started my own alliance, had enoough of that and joined [British] and I am currently being eyed up for attacks by [SU] and [Trinity] members, oh the fun...
