The Review Is In: DirectX 12 is Way to Game, and GeForce Leads Pack

I would like nvidia to focus on the DX11 drivers instead just now ,because the last few driver release have been horrendous

Hopefully AMD will stop wasting time and money on Mantle and make some good cards now.

Wasting time on Mantle?
Didn't Mantle still outperform DX12 in some scenarios in Star Swarm?

Mantle uptake seems good as well, I forget who it is but at least one person will tell you that Mantle has more titles supporting it than DirectX 11 did in the same time frame (which I think was around 12 titles by 14 months in, which is what we are now for Mantle).

We don't know what DX12's support will be like yet.

Mantle outperforming DX12 is neither surprising nor important, it's a single vendor API as it stands.

And we don't have 12 readily playable Mantle titles.

In nearly 11 years of membership i've never facepalmed so much at the replies in a single thread. :D

Greg, I have an honest question: are you employed by Nvidia or have some financial / emotional investment in the company other than simply owning some of their products?

I ask because every word I read from you about Nvidia is virtually PR guff, it's like a whole nother' level above fanboyism.

No, I am not employed by nVidia and yes, I own nVidia as well as AMD and I am really looking forward to seeing DX12 games on my system. I imagine there is a few others who are struggling with the DX11 bottleneck, so a new API is a much welcomed thing for me and probably those like me.

Don't let my threads worry you so and if you don't like them, just ignore is my advice ;)

Is a bit of balance a bad thing? this forum has felt like home to an AMD cult for years.

The thing that makes me laugh about posters like the guy you quoted is that they target one side. I do not see the same guy posting this to pro AMD people. It kinds of shows that it is a thinly veiled dig.

I don't know why the 290X should get such low FPS in Win 10 on DX12 and Mantle, at 45 FPS its actually significantly lower than it is in Win 8.1.

Perhaps the 15.2 Drivers they used are still very much under construction and not yet intended for Win 10.

I have Win 10 and tested 14.12 in it with Star Swarm, in Mantle i got around 80 FPS with a 20% overclock on a 290P, a stock 290X should get around the same.
This is versus 65 in Win 8.1.

Its far too early to judge AMD vs Nvidia performance in Win 10, its not going to look like this once its actually ready, the Mantle performance in Win 10 on a released and ready driver is very much higher in Win 10 than it is in Win 8.1 and double that what Anand published.
