I am now the proud owner of an RX 7800 XT.

My first impressions are pretty good, the GPU is smaller than i thought it would be and yet almost completely silent with temps around 65c, really good.

AMD's Drivers, what can i say.... i love them, vs Nvidia they feel like an upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 11.

I haven't played about with it yet, want to be sure its all good before doing that, tho out of curiosity i moved the voltage slides from 100% to 95% to see what it would do, it netted me 4% more performance, just doing that..... oh i can't wait to get properly in this.

Anyway.

Time Spy run.

Graphics Score: 19,672

Port Royal.

Graphics Score: 10,569

Compared to the RTX 2070 Super its replaced

Time Spy.

Graphics Score: 10,202

Port Royal.

Graphics Score: 5,997

86% faster in Time Spy.
76% faster in Port Royal.

I accidentally forced Steam to close last night and its borked its system info thing, like an idiot i saw it running as the benchmark started and thought "i better close that.... :D

I ran Port Royal this morning and scored 11,523, again quick dirty overclock.

Its a bit faster than a 4070 and 3080. Even stock its about the same as a 4070.

Also looking at the 6900XT and 6950XT scores the RT performance is up quite a bit on RDNA 3 vs 2.

My 7800xt just arrived after i secured a Pulse edition yesterday for 433 delivered.

OLD RIG:

5800x3d
32gb RAM
NVME
3060ti FE

Ran 3d mark and got around 11500.

Installed 7800xt in same rig and Score has gone up to 17250. Happy with that.

Forgot to do RT on old card but it wasn't good at it i know that :D

Port royal with 7800xt is 10400. All ran at stock settings, no OC.

Should get £200 for my old card so happy with it for a net outlay of £230

Nice, welcome to the club :)

Not a bad little card is it the Pulse? its no frills, no RGB, but where it matters, the build quality and the cooler its pretty good, it runs cool and quiet while managing to be small and compact, exactly the opposite of a lot of the more expensive cards.

Its just good design. Good job Sapphire....

Port Royal Comparison with @humbug 78 XT

*Edit, noticed there's an Nv LOD driver flag in the 4070 results

Thank you :)

Time Spy there is quite a difference. +17% to me, Port Royal they are so close to identical (0.2%) you could say they are the same card on different runs :D

OC i got to 21,358 in Time Spy, so now 27% to me.

Port Royal on post #11 i got 11,523, so 9% to me.

So far...

I hope you don't mind me saying i don't regret not sticking with Nvidia, for the first time in 9 years with AMD. So far so good, i like the card and drivers, its all behaving well. :)

The card comes with 20GB/s Samsung Memory IC's running at 19.5Gb/s, they are stable at 21Gb/s and no more, (2625 in the settings) its about 670 GB/s of bandwidth.

Crashed Valley at 21.2Gb/s immediately.

Looks like a nice card, if they'd launched it sooner I'd have gone for that over the 6950XT.

It is a nice card yes, tho if i wasn't so tight i would have gone for the Nitro+ at £50 more, not that i regret getting the Pulse, its better than i expected it to be, i'm quite warm to the idea that Sapphire are AMD's EVGA, but more, as a bonus they offer what are still good quality card's right at the lowest price point, i like that.
I hope its because Sapphire understand the value in reputation of that and continue down that line far in to the future from now, if they do i'll make Sapphire my go to.

Its a little surprising how quick the RX 7800 XT is, its as quick as the 6950XT and with a decent amount of overclocking headroom, well its no HD 7950 but at least by todays standards, which ok isn't saying much sadly but....

This has 3940 Shaders.
The 6950XT has 5120 shaders, 33% more.

Humbug i forgot to ask are all your results at 1080p?

Just looking back through thread and it seems you scored slightly higher than me even though i have faster cpu. My results are from 1440p benchmarks, just curious as i may need to tweak my card :D

The 3DMark runs are all the demo version so yes, i think so, they might even be 720P, i don't know

Your CPU score is about 10% higher than my 5800X, that's interesting as its lower clocked, the 3D cache must be a factor even in physics.

You Graphics score tho, its still lower than my stock 7800 XT, £550 vs £480 and 12GB, no regrets... :)
My Timespy score with an OC

Close enough to my OC score :) nice...

Managed 22029 Graphics score: http://www.3dmark.com/spy/43673470

I have the MBA and overclocked it to UV to 989mv (not stable for gaming more like 1030mv for COD etc) Core : 2700mhz Min 3100mhx max Vram Fast Timings 2614mhz (any more I get crashes), Fans on 75% no Zero RPM

Its a great Overclocker!

mm nice score.... i haven't found the limits of mine yet, i'll push it more when i get home, am away for a few days.

@GhostDog1981

You know what... this i think is going to be about as high as i can get, i don't like pushing GPU's to the brink just to gain a few extra points and i think that's probably about it for my card anyway, or at least that's what i'm telling myself.
So 21,409 for the Graphics score, i'm happy with that, my little champ is 109% of a 3080Ti and 94% of a 4070Ti, the latter is an £800 GPU, it costs near twice as much.

Congratz on your score :)

I luv my underrated lill hero.
