The RX 7900 GRE as of 20/03/2024 - Not such a flawed product?

That guy loves the sound of his own voice. Just couldn't carry on listening to him. One thing I did notice though and that's that I have gone the opposite way to him. I reduced power to -10 and have currently got the voltage down to 950mv and it's still clocking higher than it's supposed to. In Journey To The Savage Planet at 1440p with everything set to max I am still maintaining my monitors max of 165 fps and that's with no frame gen.

***Edit***Spoke too soon. The game started crashing last night so 950mv wasn't stable. I am back at 965mv now which is solid as a rock and I think I will settle for that. Out of curiosity I set the power slider to max and the pc was pulling ove 500w at the wall so that was a very short lived experiment and I set it back to -10 again for a max of 365w at the wall.

I have this evening dropped the Gigabyte GRE into the rig.

The first install of adrenaline and drivers was a bit iffy, all games loaded low settings and a couple crashed when upping settings. A system Crash and all my bios/PBO settings reset

A reinstall and we are running sweet... +50/60 frames at least in some of the games I've run. We'll have a propper tinker tomorrow.

Its quiet though! The fans really don't ramp hard and the first card I've had in a while with, so far, zero coil buzz.

Yeah, and like someone trying to grow his channel by acting the clown i hate the unfunny little clips that his keeps using now for comedic effect.

He's normally quite good, he should just be himself.

I've also upped the voltage a little on my 7800 XT, i've run the memory at 2566 (656.9 GB/s) for a couple of days now and its perfect, even in Star Citizen.

I'm going to keep pushing the memory up in 16 Mhz increments and then leave it for a couple of days, see how far i can get before it starts crashing, even then unless its past 2600 Mhz i might put another 10mv on it and keep going.

LtMattDonk recommended 6 and 12's to me, might be something in it.

Right, thaty might be correct if its coming from @LtMatt the clocks on the VRam go up in some increments that isn't 1, i seem to remember Fabio saying it was 16 but if Matt says incidents of 6 i trust that to be right, Matt would know.

Ah yes, HUB. Once blacklisted by Nvidia for not talking about Nvidia features. Then back in their good books for talking about said features. This was in 2020.

Gotta keep those sample cards coming in haven't they? :D

How can they be trusted anymore?
Tbh they recommended the GRE recently in their xInfinityRe-re-re-re-re-review of the GRE.

You managed to find one in the UK at a decent price?
I'm still on the fence with the steel legend for some reason, maybe the 50A memory chips suggest cost cutting elsewhere.
If the pulse comes back into stock at £529 then I might just bite the bullet and risk having to modify my case although coming around to the idea of a new case anyway.
