The RX Vega 56 Owners Thread

For the purpose of calibrating an overclock always go with a game (Dx12 preferably) imo. You can download Shadow of the Tomb Raider demo for free on steam, and has the benchmark included, for example.

Very much this. Tools like 3DMark / Unigine are great for getting a "performance" number, but aren't necessarily representative of actual game scenarios. Test it on demanding games like Tomb Raider, and the titles you actually play.

my sapphire pulse has samsung memory. sound wise its silent with a heavy undervolt to 1.0v on p7 with 1520/950 clocks (max temp 71-72c with 30-33% fan speed, silent). I had it on 1600/950 at 1.06v for a while but the fan would ramp up to 40-45% speed especially with this weather which was audible but not loud, I just prefer silence so im sticking to the 1v undervolt. it also went from 220w to 170w in GPU-Z so theres that. 50-60W more and higher fan speed doesnt seem worth it to me for 80mhz more, 56 gains more performance from the memory overclock anyway (around 10% more performance going from 800mhz to 950, pretty much on par with stock 64)

Thank you for the reply does undervolting the GPU void the warranty? Im not fused about overclocking the GPU just want card that can do 144hz 1080p and 1440p 60 fps.

No its done in software, wattmann

Ah nice thats good to know I can't see any other card in the price range to match this, the 1660ti makes no sense not sure why it exists..

Are you Vega owners happy with card ? If you were to buy a card now for 250-300 would get a Vega 56 for £250 today?

Picked up mine used on MM, it's a powercolor blower card but tbh not as noisy as the internet mob squad would have you believe

Personally been amazed by the card so far. I am running undervolted and overclocked and it's just brilliant. I went from an overclocked EVGA 980Ti and the difference was massive

Great cards and in the price bracket not much comes close still

Personally my pulse 56 is quiet but then again i have cpu fan and 2 case fans going and i dont control em as no fan controller and never did figure out speedfan to control em. But all ill say is with the fan off option enabled and with it on i dont hear a difference. At load i dont think i hear it ramping up unless its a extreme benchmark maybe like the furmark donut. But general gaming i dont hear it. Also i might have had a touch of coil whine about a week after i installed it, it didnt last long as i didnt hear it for long and its gone now. Tho i should state my hearing isnt great these days. So take what i say with a pinch of salt so to speak.

Thank you all for replys I just went ahead and ordered the Vega 56 sapphire pulse card :) should have all my parts by thursday!

I don't think you'll be dissappointed mate. I done a tonne of research the other week and the Vega 56 seemed like the best value card out there at the moment. I bought mine second hand for extra bang for buck and I'm happy with it.

I'v undervolted it to 1.0v and leaving it at stock clocks, and also running the memory at 950mhz without changing the stock voltage of 950mv.

It seems the best card to purchased for the £250 no idea what team green are doing with the 1660ti.... I wanted to wait for Navi but priced bit to high for me i will spend the money saved on 144hz monitor. I have never really overclocked before what are the advantages of undervolting the card apart form less power consumption? i assume less heat & noise ?

Getting trolled here my final to parts (GPU and motherboard) are coming tomorrow but my keyboard is delayed! Nooooooo

I'm not that well versed in it myself, for me personally it was as you've said, to reduce heat and power consumption for effectively the same peformance (increased peformance if you consider the overclock on the memory without changing voltages there).

HWmonitor was showing the card pulling 270W stock, wheras now it is pulling 207W.

It's all just numbers at the end of the day. Though, maybe I didn't need the 750W PSU recommended afterall!

Absolutely smitten with my V56 Red dragon, Doe's everything i need at 1440p, 75hz quietly! You guy's are getting a great deal now on V56's, I paid £350 for mine last year, Absolutely no regrets, It's going to do me a few more years!

Yes, less power consumption and heat. Under full load/gaming this means you are less likely to hit the max temperature at which the card will thermal throttle (downclock itself to reduce heat).

Yeah it really is great value and spot on for 1440p. With the info and guides on here its easy to undervolt and find the sweet spot making it a great card not just on value but also performance for your £.

I have a 144Hz Freesync2 monitor, it keeps everything I play comfortably within the freesync range, really happy with it.

Removed the lower HDD cage and optical drive on Monday evening, moved everything to the 5.25inch bays as the HDD cage was blocking one of my intake fans. Has made a few degrees differences to temps which is good.

Currently sitting at ~1680MHz core clock @ 1090mV, and memory at 955MHz at stock voltages.
