The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

I achieve that by just running state 6 and state 7 the same.....at 1750mhz. My clock speed in games fluctuates between 1700mhz and 1730mhz. If Matt isn't getting to 1800mhz now, and like he says normally low to mid 1700's, then he could just set 1750mhz for state 6 and 7. That was kinda my point.

Don't set P6 and P7 to the same value, for some reason it cause memory frequency drops.

I think Matt and the others were only hitting 1800mhz+ on the older 17.8.1 driver which I believe doesn't report the clocks correctly. I've not seen him hit 1800mhz on 17.8.2 because he's not done many videos on the 17.8.2 driver. Any chance you can post a vid up showing that Matt?
I thought the same thing too Tony but the video Matt posted a few days back of Dirt 4 was on the 17.8.2 drivers and it was hitting 1800mhz. I'm a bit perplexed about why my card not boosting to 1750 anymore too - I know Matt gave us the explanation regarding the current spikes and ACG but that doesn't explain why his card can do it but ours can't, granted I don't have Dirt 4 to test it but you'd have though Time Spy and games like ROTR and Dishonoured 2 would be pushing the card to it's limits. Maybe he just got an exceptional card - it would be good if any other AOI users here could confirm if there card is boosting up to and beyond 1750 on the latest drivers?...

I'm absolutely fine with 1730mhz, in just really trying to work out the best way to set the states so the core jumps around as little as possible. If I can get it so it doesn't drop under 1700mhz then that's me really pleased. I know it's not a temp thing as my card doesn't even hit 40c under long loads.

Oh really??? Hmmm

I suppose it's my turn now as well.

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your Vega 64.

I'd be content with that too. Same story here - card running at 58 degrees on my AOI which is well below the throttling point of 70.

Dirt 4 seems to be a best case scenario as it is not as demanding as some other games.

I've done a few videos on 17.8.2 and core clock is between 1700-1775 mostly. In less demanding games or using a lower res like 1080P i get higher clocks. See my two BF1 videos as an example.

Yeah I see, cheers Matt. The point im trying to get to is that the drivers before 17.8.2 you were hitting 1805mhz a lot, it was way up there when u were gaming. But when it did fluctuate, it only dropped to just under 1800mhz. It was the same for all of us early adopters on 17.8.1 and the first driver, the clocks it showed I just didn't believe. The 1980mhz that MDplatts first got made me question that. My clock speed was constantly around it's max, that's not the case on this latest driver. I'm totally fine with that as i can now believe what its reporting more accurarely and overclock with more certainty. It just enforces the fact that the earlier clocks we were seeing in the software overlays weren't necessarily accurate and we are now seeing the true numbers.

Another one bites the dust - well is DOA by the look of it.

I opened the AIO Sapphire to find it seems to be leaking, the manual is all soggy and the clear protective film on the shroud has water droplets underneath. :( At least I have the AC to play with, going to install that one now.

It was a bug mate, if you look at my 17.8.1 videos it was locked at 1802Mhz. I was using a 17.8.1 build that was not available publicly as it was slightly older than 17.8.1 on the amd website. Either way, the clocks were fluctuating on 17.8.1 according to my internal tools, but HWINFO64 couldn't detect it.

Now getting higher scores with lower clocks. :p

yeah same here...did a Timespy yesterday, highest I've score and the clock speed was 1712mhz compared to a previous 1752mhz, gained 400 points with the lower clock :) :)......8k graphics score which I'm happy with. http://www.3dmark.com/spy/2321085

Arg that sucks, so sorry for you my friend :(

Nice, i just bested your score slightly. :p

good job (link to compare?)..Doesn't surprise me though, my 3770k, Z77 and DDR3 combo is showing it's age a little now. Next year will be the big upgrade :)

Wow really...damn that would destroy me. I hate hearing about these failures, a lot of us AMD guys been waiting a long time for this card, such a shame not everything is getting the same level of build quality.

:p

Here we go. Lost a few graphics points rerunning it, forgot to validate it first time around.

nice, I'll be coming back at ya when I can figure out a way to get my HBM higher  :D not sure why the default voltage is 1050mv on my memory, but not got the bottle to alter that one yet as I think the HBM is a little buggy.
