The Saboteur

one thing I have noticed is if i drive fast enough in a straight line I can out run the rendering :/

Suddenly driving on thin air till it catches up and renders the road >.<

sounds like test drive unlimited on 360, i could see through buildings i was driving that fast and the data had not loaded :p

just got this, man its buggy as hell, if i accelarate in the car, the camera moves in a 360 spin, if i pause it, 7/10 of the time it crashes to desktop.

using beta patch 3, set cores to 1, good game, but its unplayable!

Doesn't it like quad core systems? I have the same card as you but a dual core system and not one problem so far (unpatched).

I have a quad and as I said before, no crashes or anything. Just little bugs in the game.

did you change your affinity to use less than all 4 cores? also change the priority in task manager?

i noticed slight increase in stability setting the priority to high, but its a faff on.

the french accents are starting to do my head in :p

i hope you get better look then me, this game as good as it is was the buggiest game ive ever played, so much so ive lost faith in pc gaming!

Strange, I didn't really notice any bugs. Very fun game, preferred it to games like GTA and the various other open map, random mission games that are similar. Not sure if the EA downloader even added any updates to it. Beta updates are usually a bad idea.

i just got this after someone on another forum said they enjoyed it and tbh its much better than i expected.

ive been having a lot of fun doing missions so far and some of the insults during the cut scenes are pretty funny, lots of missions with action without the dull boring half an hour driving that you get with mafia 2 and all the fun of blowing stuff up like in just cause.

easily better than mafia2 by along way.

btw cant say ive noticed any bugs using the 1.3beta patch on my x6 cpu and i didnt set the processor affinity for the game, no crashes, no minimising etc perfectly stable and runs stupidly well even with 32x aa on my gtx460

Just completed this, thoughts below:

+Nice stylized graphics and setting, Paris looks good in places and I like the way the colour hue changes as you free different areas of the city from Nazi oppression.
+Horror stories about EA shutting off the servers earlier in the year didn't see to do me any harm, the game worked fine including nudity
+Interesting blend of Mafia and Assassin's Creed, although inferior to both.
+Characters and dialogue are generally strong
+Reasonable blend of action and stealth i.e. it doesn't force you down the stealth route, you can rambo most missions if you want to.

-Game runs in low resolution unless you set 60hz, incredibly shoddy and I only found out how to 'fix' it (i.e. change from 120hz to 60hz) by googling
-Annoyingly makes you holster weapons for no apparent reason in certain places (e.g. some checkpoints)
-Driving leaves a lot to be desired although this may be in part due to the era (same accusation could be directed at Mafia)
-Some graphical glitches especially when viewing things at a distance
-Respawning enemies, there is one mission where you have to assault Palais Royale and destroy buildings, Zeppelins etc, I couldn't figure out how to take out the Zeppelins at first so just progressed further down to take out other targets and try to find some dynamite then came back later, the baddies had respawned even on the sniper towers :/
-The map really sucks, even opening it from the menu you get some stupid tiny map that is unusuable so you need to click view full map, then when you get it out as soon as you zoom out to try and see WTF is going on it gets all messed up, the legend overlay doesn't scale properly so all the icons end up in the wrong place.

Overall I wasn't particularly impressed at the start of the game but once it gets in to its stride and developing the characters, it starts to shine. It was a pleasant surprise and reasonably original in terms of the setting too, there are plenty of WW2 games but not many dealing with the resistance.
