The Samsung OmniaHD i8910 ... this NEEDS it's own thread.

netto, what bootloader did you have? Mine is 1.47. Would you say the guide is straight forward?

Hey, I've not done it yet mate - i'd copied off another site with the changes that it brings. Prob look into doing it tonight.

Are you going to try it too?

I just unbranded mine using the polish firmware.
All went well and was surprisingly straightforward.

The phone seems generally all round faster and doesn’t have any of the annoying orange rubbish.

are you sure it is the phones fault ? the youtube compression comes mostly because you get redirected to mobile.youtube.com or m.youtube.com where you only get badly compressed videos ! that has to do with the browser with tells the youtube site that it is a browser on a mobile phone and so youtube redirects you to the youtube site with low resolution content.

thats just the experience i made with youtube

Had 2 questions.

1) Anyone know what happened to all the downloadable Orange widgets? I have an orange branded phone and yesterday there were a bunch of widgets available for download by going to the widgets side bar and using the widget downloadloader. However, today the downloader is only showing 2 widgets available: the "GoogleSearch" widget and "More Widgets v2.0"

Anyone know what happened to the rest of them? Yesterday there was Accuweather and a bunch more etc. Thanks in advance!

2) How do you turn off vibration? I can't seem to find it in the menu's. Thanks in advance!

Some guy posted it over at the samsungi8910omnia forums, got deleted.

But I managed to copy and paste the links! Happy days!

Has anyone de-branded their phones with these files yet?.

Ive read on other forums that these files posted above dont always work and have caused problems for some people?, saying you need to download and pay for the orginal ones?

Na, that's rubbish. I've debranded using these files. You just have to follow the instructions.

So now I'm trying to mix up the firmware files, I'm using:

CSC_I8910ORAIE2.xml
CODE_I8910XXIE6.xml
I8910XXIE7.bin

Doing it as we speak, lets hope I don't get a brick. The new firmware on share4gsm was whack. Branded Polish Orange firmware.

EDIT: Ok, so no brick but I've still got Orange branding! What file is the unbranded one? CSC or CODE? MODEM prehaps?

Cheers, mine arrives tomorrow so will be de-branding it, the orange junk on there at the moment just slows it right down and it also has assisted GPS disabled.

Found a random problem with the photos from my phone, this is a direct copy of something I posted on a different forum.

"This is one of the stranger problems I've come across recently. After importing a load of photos from my I8910 to my computer (running Vista), the images appear to be being automatically stretched vertically to appear very out of proportion.

After some googling I came across someone else with a similar problem (different camera), and found that removing ALL of the EXIF data from the photo causes the images to be displayed correctly.

From what I've been able to work out, the I8910 is recording the horizontal and vertical resolutions as 3264DPI and 2448DPI respectively, once I removed the EXIF data these are both 96DPI, and the photos are displayed correctly.
This appears to be what is causing the photos to appear strectched when viewed on my computer, even though the reslution is kept as it should be.

If anyone knows a way to get the correct data recorded by the phone, or just any help on this it would be great!"

And i thought it was me that only had this problem, thought it was a setting i selected on the camera! I too would like to find out how to fix this!

I downloaded a program that strips all the EXIF data from the photos, after that they are displayed perfectly, but it's a hassle I don't want to have to do for every photo I take.

Some programs will also display the photos correctly even with the EXIF data, but some won't.

Hopefully there's a simple fix for this, which is quite an annoying problem!
