I saw on that share4gsm site that he was using Vista X64, be interesting to see if he did it on Vista or used an XP machine.

I saw on another forum about it needed to be done on XP - i want to do it but only have vista x64. Are you thinking of flashing it too?

Yeah i'd be willing to pay for this firmware if i knew it improved the youtube compression. Im currently using W7 RC though.

You can get the firmware off another site for free but it does only work on XP.

What exactly does de-branding do?, does it offer any new features with the new firmware?.

Ive just ordered the phone from orange as its back in stock, will be here saturday and need to make a decision if im going
to de-brand straight away?

Not seen it free....

Changes we have noticed with the new firmware:

•Phone is much faster
•Youtube and all widgets are now available
•Camera now saves anti shake and contrast, sharpness settings.
•GPS lock seems faster. (I can get full signal inside my house!)
•Rid of all the horrible Orange branded crap.

Ive got the instructions to do it and the files, was it no hassle doing it?, i believe it puts it into polish language once done then you need to swap it to uk?.

You can rebrand the phone back with the Orange firmware.

Just so you all know he has also said this...

WILL ONLY WORK ON WINDOWS XP AND I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE OR ERRORS TO YOUR PHONE

Once downloaded; extract each rar file to its own folder.

Install Drivers & run exe's

SSDN_V1.1.808.7165_SETUP_whql.exe ( Run )
SAMSUNG Mobile USB DRIVER(4.40.7.0) v1.6 > setup.exe ( Run )
PHONE_driver > Setup.exe ( Run )
PDA_driver > IBootHostUSB.inf ( Right Click / Install )

Running Symbian ROM

Symbian ROM Flashing Tool v1.50.exe ( Run )

In the top left corner heading "File Info" you need to point the top 3 paths to the corresponding files.

Please see the PDF share4gsm_GT-i8910_SVCM_how_to_download.pdf which highlights the other options that need ticking, when i ran this Flash TOOL all the options where already ticked by default.

Make sure your phone is off, and the USB cable is out. Hold down the VOLUME UP and HOLD button, while turning the phone on. The phone should now go into boot loader mode, with a blue screen.

Now its time to plug in your USB cable.

to the top right is Connection and Progress INFO, if your phone is recognised and the drivers are installed correct No1 PDA should display a COM Number.

Your phone is now ready to Start the Flash.

Double check all your settings, and then click "Download Start"

Debrand means it will just take off all the Orange branding on the menus and what not, it wont unlock the phone to other networks.
