Did not see this coming. Such fond memories of Settlers on the Amiga when I was a wee lad, one of the best games to grace the golden age of gaming being the 90's. I can't wait for this. Long way off but the wait I'm sure will be well worth it.

Did they ever bring out anything better than Settlers II? I’ve tried a few of the sequels but none quite managed to beat it, most just looked prettier but lost the humour.

Not IMO no, Settlers 1 was easily the best, it was the most endearing version I thought. It was the one I always went back to when I was in my very early teens.

They released a Settlers 2 10th Anniversary edition which I loved. Available on GOG games.

I've enjoyed most of the Settlers games, 1-3 way more than any of the more recent ones but they've all had their own charm to them... well apart from Settlers Online, but we can just pretend that never existed.

Only played Settlers 1 on the Amiga. Was awesome but was super slow.

Everything else I was just meh and the latest iterations are just laughable personally.

I loved Settlers 1 & 2 - one of the most addictive games I've played. I got the 10th Anniversary edition - I'll need to see if I can get it running again.

Settlers 3 was OK, but they lost me from then onwards. They lost their original charm and became a bit too complex.

I'll look forward to the new game, but it will need to resurrect the character of 1 and 2 to tempt me to buy it.

I think a lot of those games took their cues from the original Settlers.

They released a Settlers 2 10th Anniversary edition which I loved. Available on GOG games.

It’s a brilliant game. I’ve been saying l’ll start playing it again for the past month.

I agree that after Settlers 4 the series went down hill, and Settlers 2 (both original and 10th anniversary) is still my favorite. I loved laying those paths. But what was wrong with Settlers 4? To me it was to Settlers 3 what UT 2004 was to UT 2003.

I loved settlers 1 2 and 3. I did spend slot of time on settlers 3, I still play it time to time. I'll defo buy the complete collection when it comes out

Same, couldn't get on with any of the later ones, and just has a certain charm to it.

Not IMO no, Settlers 1 was easily the best, it was the most endearing version I thought. It was the one I always went back to when I was in my very early teens.

Settlers 1 was the best.

The sequel took away some of the AI variety (there was only 1 opponent with 1 AI). In S1 each of the different AI opponents had their own approach, iirc.

I played 3, 4 and some of the later ones... which were naff.
