I think people that liked the earlier games will enjoy this, the lead designer and programmer of the first The Settlers is back as creative director of the latest installment. There's a German word used to capture the essence of the games: 'wuselig', which roughly translates to bustling, active, busy. Definitely at the heart of it.

Also much love for BI2, another of their classics
BI3 wasn't bad, but nowhere near as good.As with Settlers tho, their later Battle Isle games were a bit naff (BI5 was... urgh).
the dev does say it in the above video. I went looking for it also, but can't find it anywhere.

Yep but Settlers Online is not the original. In the above YouTube video, the chap states you can download and play Settlers 1 now and the others will be available in November. I've looked everywhere, can not find the original to download.

Populous was another god game around same time, there was also Mega-Lo-Mania.

Mega-lo-Mania was a fantastic game on Amiga. Sunk an incredible amount of hours into that in my childhood. Can still remember the soundtrack and announcer in my head today.

Oh brings back some fond memories of the Amiga days, never had one myself, but my buddy in high school had one

Settlers 1 was fantastic, fond memories of playing that on the Amiga! Such a shame its on Uplay.
Uplay is excellent these days

It's not for me mate, I don't see the point in having games on the Steam platform but still having to have Uplay to run them. Hopefully this comes to Steam only.
