The Shield

I reckon Ronnie will find out Vic screwed him and will kill him somehow

It's a shame it's ending here, I liked the way Ronnie's character has developed from the minor Strike Team member to what he is today, and I'd like to see the story continue with him as the main character for the 8th series.

Well did we all watch it??

Was pretty tense during the last 15 minutes, Don't want to spoil it for those that haven't seen it yet.

I felt bad for Ronnie, but I kept reminding myself of all the crap he'd been into aswell as the others. The only one with any integrety is Claudette, and look whats happening to her :(

..and Dutch, but I would've liked to see him resolve that final case. Not mentioning too much detail in case people haven't see it yet, but I think you know which case I mean.

Don't want to spoil it for anyone, but *meh* - I think they could've done better, maybe writing so many cliffhangers has dug them into a hole?

Definitely seemed 'semi-open' at the end.

Still a great series and at least they didn't go all Sopranos and fade to black in the middle of a ...

Yeah, forgot about Dutch, a decent bloke but it seems impoosible for him not to make an ass out of himself half the time.

I have watched all 7 Seasons back to back over the last month. What an amazing show!

I just watched the Series Finale and muchos tears I'm afraid:

I can't believe the end for Shane, Mara & Jackson. I really hoped against hope that they'd make it out of the situation OK. The way the bodies were arranged at the end set the water works off; Jackson clutching his Police Car - poor little mite :(

Mackey didn't suffer enough.

I always hoped Dutch would turn into a serial killer after his incident with the cat. The writers missed a trick there. :)

HOLY thread revival, got me all excited thinking there was more, untill I noticed the dates :)

Thats exactly what I was hoping :(

would have been a twist and half that plot line.

Epic show.. Ive just rewatched the Wire and Might give this another go now.

Twas a great show but as has been said, Mackey didn't get his just deserts.

It also had the best ending to a season of any program ever when..........

Shane killed Lem

Shawn Ryan stated in a Q+A that people took way more from that then was intended and was only ever meant to be episode centred (after the mind tricks in the interrogation room towards dutch).

Funny how that then became a stand out scene amongst all the seasons.

My boss recommended this to me though for a while I got The Unit and The Shield mixed up. The Shield is a fantastic show - blitzed the whole show in a month. Taken a break watching The Unit which took a while for me to get into, not as good but still a good watch. Not sure how Shawn Ryan made all those great shows and then..........Last Resort.

He kind of did though. He ended up everything he hated, a rat, despised by other cops. Sure he didn't die, but from his point of view his life probably wasn't worth living anymore.

Easy for him to say, but it's not consistent with what he put on screen (and I don't just mean that scene) pretty much any time Dutch is across the room from one of the series serial killers and he usually ends up with a mirror held up to himself. Whether it was their intention or not Dutch often comes off as a moral code and one bad day away from being on the wrong side.

I think Dutch becoming a serial killer would have been a huge mistake. He was always so intrigued by how these criminal's minds worked, but his character in my eyes would never have fit becoming a serial killer. Throughout the seasons he's watching Mackey and co use questionable methods to achieve their goals and he nearly does some himself but he backs out. To me he was always going to stay a decent guy.

But yeah, I've probably seen the Shield through from seasons 1-7 about 10 times now and I could easily watch it again. For me it's a completely flawless show with a perfect ending.
