Yes. My MBP had Leopard, used it for 9 months, did the backup and re-installed form the DVDs. I think you have to open iTunes once on the new install, for it to generate some folders, and then you overwrite with your old folder form Time machine or any other backup. It retained all info including play counts of tracks.

Just drag back the iTunes folder form your Time Machine backup. To me this isn't a restore really as you are just copying a folder. You do not need Time Machine for this. Just copy your whole iTunes folder to the backup device/method of your choice, and copy back after installing SL. This is the best way to avoid copying back any crap from your old install and just getting your iTunes related stuff back.

Will this also keep the stuff ive put in the Sort Artists/Album fields on each track?

Can you do the up to date thing in store? Im half tempted to have a trip to one of the london stores or mk to get my copy on friday (if i can find one of them as i only have been to the belfast one)

I'm going to get up on Friday, see what peoples initial reports are on the clean install option then pop to the Trafford Centre at lunchtime.

I succumbed and ordered it! :) Might wait a week or so before installing it though to see if there are any horror install stories.

i've just extended my shifts on friday so it'll be a mystery whether it arrives or not until 21:00...... grrr wish i had said no to the overtime now!

My order cannot now be canceled as it's been 'prepared for shipment'.

Fully expecting Snow Leopard to be dispatched tomorrow / today [Thursday] and be in people's hands for Friday. :)
