So the first snows of winter are starting to fall and some of the higher resorts will start to open in the next few weeks. What's everyone got planned for this season?

Me, possibly an early week in Europe somewhere to be decided and then 2 and a bit weeks out in Colorado. Looking forward to it!

I wonder if Scotland will have another season like last year:-

Forecast for snow showers all weekend up cairngorm, might get an early start to the season if that keeps up.

I'd quite like to do a bit of ski touring away from the ski centres this year. Problem is i cant ski :p Might end up just hiking with my board.

I was going to post a season thread over the next few days as we've just bought our seasons pass to the Grand Massif. 2500+km of pisted area, 1hr30 in the car.

We're going to take advantage of my relocation and plan on skiing pretty much every weekend, and won't stick exclusively to the GM, it's just that the season pass is half price if bought before end of October, so only €450 which is significantly cheaper than the 3 valleys season pass (which we'd prefer) at €1,215.

And with 10 days in the dolomites in February, it's going to be a good season .

Hopefully going on two trips this season, one with the girlfriend's family and the other with a big group of friends.

It'll be the first time I invest in some proper boots too!

Booked for a week in Austria in 2015, but not till April :(:(.

Haven't been on a ski holiday in about 5 years, so will need to start wearing my ski boots around the house come January to get used to them again.

Need to purchase some new gear as well, bought a coat towards the end of last season (april time), so will need some new salopettes and gloves. I don't fancy buying them online without being able to try them on, so will need to wait for the shops to start getting their gear in.

Not booked yet. Will only get away once I think as I'm in the process of buying my ex out of the house. I've been to Sauze D'Oulx the last few years but was thinking La Plagne in Feb, as it's been years since I was last there and it's a decent sized area.

We've got a week in Baqueira over the New Year, and we're also going to drive to Tignes for a week in March.

Really looking forward to both, and have splurged a load of money on my first board, boots, bindings. Also bought new goggles because because.

Had a chat with my mates about next year, none can afford it again. So contemplating another trip with the UCPA again, but I would love to get some skiing done in Scotland if the conditions are suitable.

haven't been on my board in 2 years! snowdomes bore me too much

Wanted to go abroad this year but have bought a house, so next year for definite. only been to different parts of Andorra so far on budget trips, next time will be more up market hopefully

This is the first year in my where I won't be living within an easy drive of good skiing (20 years in Scotland a year in California, 6 winters in Switzerland, 3 winters in oregon). I used to ski Saturday and Sunday through the winter as soon as snow fell.. The last 9 winters I've been skiing. From early November right through to June or July.

TBH, I am super depressed and not coping with being so far from the mountains (current in VA).

So far booked a week in Colorado (8 days), and 2 long weekends in Utah (4 each). I don't have much vacation time to do a second long trip.:(
Will look how the snow comes this winter. If there is decent snow by early December I will try and book another long weekend. I will certainly try to head to Washington state in April and May for some ski touring.

Plans so far, couple of weekends and one week in Chamonix. A weekend in three valleys and ten days in Japan.

Have you been to Japan before and is ten days worth it/doable? I've always wanted to ski in Japan but have been put off by the travel time and the thought of losing 2 or 3 days. Hakuba looks like it gets an enormous amount of snow and the terrain looks interesting but is Niseko the safer choice?

Usually work allow me to stay the majority of the season in the Alps but I've promised the Mrs an Xmas at home this year. That said I'll be lurking around La Plagne from time to time, can't even begin to think about a winter in the UK.
