H has moved off the fence towards Nando's although it looks like this could be an Old Orleans landslide victory.

See first post of thread for figures

Typical woman :p Say they don't care, wait for others to choose and then pick the opposite :) Or worse, wait until you are there and then start moaning that isn't what they wanted to do.

Splitting the bill is ok with me although it's probably best if we keep drinks out of it. Not really far if some people are ordering up bottles of wine etc and the tee-totallers have to chip in. Being able to order from the bar is all well and good, but once things are in full swing it wouldn't suprise me if people order something from the waiter :)

Regarding tips, usually what I do for group events is stick a couple of quid down, or say my share of the food comes to £17.60 or whatever, I'll stick £20 in including tip to keep things simple. As long as most people do similar there should be more than enough money for tips.

Looks like it could turn out quite an expensive weekend, having just extended my stay to 2 nights...

so the lunch u r organising is on saturday right? will it be before bowling or after? and when the bill comes how will we divide it? like say its 20£ will we chip in 1£ each and give it to waiter?
if so i have to make sure i take out enough cash! lol

oh & about drinks, not allowed 2 buy anyone alcoholic drinks! or dont drink so what you said about not sharing the drink thing is ok. (if u all happen to drink non-alcoholic drinks, i wouldnt mind sharing that either if everyone doesnt go overboard! lol)

Yes the restaurant meal is on Saturday around 6-7pm after the bowling, check the first post in this thread :)

Regarding money, I'd guess bowling will be £10-15 and meal around £15-20. So bearing in mind you don't drink alcohol I'd imagine £50 would cover the whole day for you.

Oi!

Actually I didn't ask her in initially because I didn't think it was fair that we as hosts voted. She asked where we were going and I said there was a vote and she actually said that she wasn't bothered but out of the three probably Nandos. I'm pretty sure then reason she said Nandos is because it fits very well with the diet that I am doing at the moment and it would have been more affordable for everyone (shes pretty altruistic anyway). So be nice or she'll beat the **** out of you! Shes more than happy to go to Old Orleans and the chances of her moaning when she is eating (she increadably unfussy) are zero.

Be nice to her shes pretty quiet and meeting all you lot is going to be a bit overwealming anyway, I found the Swansea do overwhelming and I'm not quiet!

They will no doubt include service if we are a big group anyway. But hangtime's logic works. I'm not going to split hairs though i hate all the fuss that happens over bills anyway. I think we should also pay for MB's share for organising it all. :) Hopefully that'll mean he doesn't go for the £200 menu! :p

As for budgets I always spend close to £200 on big weekend breaks and OcUk meets in general so i doubt this will be very much different. :o

That will not be nessessary but its a kind thought, just buy the misses and me a bottle of wine at Old Orleans or something. As I said before I'm enjoying orgainising it and it no real hardship :)

Money wise I would say that £200 of the weekend would be about right.

My estimate is

Friday Night
Meal at The Rampant Rabbit £10-15
Friday Night Club entry £5
Evenings drinks £25

Saturday
Breakfast (included in hotel price/ you might get a bacon sandwich if your staying at mine)
Lunch £7
Bowling £15
Drinks for the day £10
Evening meal £20
Evening drinks £25

Look at be about £120 then but add 75% for excessive behaviour, buying rounds for the less fortunate, playing video games, breaking things, on the spot fines and just being silly with then I reckon Freefaller is about spot on :)

reckon I spent about £200 at Swansea and I was chucking it about a bit.

MB Old Orleans is perfectly fine for your diet as i have eaten there as well on the same diet and they are more than happy enough to change itmes on the food being ordered to suit your requirements.

If you need more info drop us an email and i will explain further.

Also the waiters and waitresses at Old Orleans take drinks orders at the table as part of the service so no need to fight your way to the bar, as it gets popular at the bar on nights due to being right next door to some of Maidstone night clubs. As people start out there then move on.

Hi SCM

Do you mean that they will take drinks orders, not for the bill but cash for the drink at the time?

And I don't think we'll need to worry about the diet for the meet ;). It will be the first day off before I start on my new gym and complex carb program (Body for Life). so all restrictions are off for the weekend :)

I know what you mean about the clubs, I hate the Lockmeadow clubs with a passion and the place does gat crammed with idiots pre Icon and Jumping Jacks.

Really looking forward to this, and not just for the food :)

They might be persuaded to take cash for the drinks at the time if we ask them to but they do do a itemised receipt so it is easy to work out whose drinks are which. As i'm not drinking be easy fro me to keep track of who has ordered what, then again if they take cash might be best way.

Experience tells me it's generally best to pay for what drinks you order at the time, where possible. Following problems with previous events, at my department Xmas party we did this and it worked quite well, with individuals/small groups ordering drinks. The only issue really is if 20 people keep ordering single drinks on their own, the waitresses will probably get fed up ferrying drinks/change back and forth.

Otherwise you end up with say 6 people drinking white wine, just ordering the bottles in, bill comes and you split the wine cost 6 ways, then someone moans because they only had 2 glasses while someone else knocked back a bottle and a half. Also if anyone leaves early it makes it easier for them to leave the correct amount of money - although I doubt anyone will in this instance!

Personally I don't really mind that much as I'm easygoing about this sort of thing and I shan't be holding back on the drink anyway, but like MB I agree it's better to be anal (ooh err!) about it now and get it sorted, rather than ending up with people feeling annoyed/let down on the day.

Oh and MB, ignore the 'women' comment, I'm just bitter and twisted - it was tongue in cheek and not directed at your wife :)

I thought so, but I'd just got up and was feeling a bit grumpy :)

I'm happier now, apart from the fact I'v just gone and lashed £1400 on a new leather sofa and footstall

Right

I have now booked

Bowling for 20 people for 3 games at 3.30 on the 12th March

And

Old Orleans for 24 people (you never know) for 7.30 on the 12th of March

They have taken £60 off my CC for the bowling so unfortunately your all going to have to give me £3 which is a real pain in the butt!

Oh well at least its all sorted

I also noticed that one of the pubs I was considering taking everyone to in town is in the process of being referb'ed and will be finished in time for the 12th :)
