The state of modern football

I am of the opinion that the Premiership is the worst thing to happen to football in this country.

I am a Palace fan. I remember us finishing 3rd in 1991. I think Norwich did the same the year after. Back in those days clubs could get promoted and challenge. Remember Watford back in the 80s.

We now have clubs full of overpaid primadonnas. Yes, we have done reasonably well in Europe but we did well in Europe when our clubs were padded out with British and Irish players.

One of the reasons I love the Championship (maybe I'll have to again haha), it feels more 'real'. I'm really not keen on the Premier League, full of big headed players and fans and hardly any 3pm Saturday games. Give me an away game at Selhurst any day of the week.

it won't be long until football becomes a tv show like the wrestling became.. players will do promos before the match and all have their own little stories going on etc...

I have been to more non-league games than Premiership games. I just can't watch it.

I won't even watch England anymore.

I've been to watch a lot of lower League football this season (Sheffield Wednesday being down in League One yo!) and I've been pleasantly surprised by how many teams play football and not kick and rush.

The OP sounds like he just watches the Premier League and therein lies his problem.

Football is brilliant.
