If your low back is getting involved in the BORs, try doing inverted rows instead. You can do them from a barbell in a rack or from a suspension trainer - either way it's a great upper back exercise and takes the low back out of it completely. Also no need to fanny about loading a bar.
They can be done on a dining room table, too.![]()

I may give inverted rows a go, but BOR's really light up my mid-upper back nicely, adding weight to the inverteds is a bit harder (no weight vest).
