The Thing - prequel to John Carpenter’s 1982 movie

Awesome! I loved the first one. The Thing and Alien were probably the first scary films I ever saw and they scared the crap out of me when I was a kid!

Didn't even know they were making another one, can't see it being a patch on the original but I'll still watch it regardless! :)

Carpenters version is one of my all time favourites , and the theme is brilliant soundtrack. I suppose really this is the 3rd film , the first being the black and white one from the 50s.

I love the original (like very Carpenter film really). And i generlly don't mind it when my favourite films get remade really (i know this isn't a remake, but it kind of is really).

I will definitely go and see this.

As a hater of modern CGI remakes I have to say that looks bloody AWESOME!!!!

At least we know the heroine get killed. The ones who get away at the end should be just minor characters because you can't invest in them knowing their fate at the start of the original.

The only things we know are
a) nobody is left alive at the camp when the yanks find it
b) at least one Thing gets frazzled, to be discovered by the Americans and brought back to base (with lol consequences)
c) a husky-Thing escapes and is chased by Norwegian helicopter guy and sniper, one self-pwns and the other gets a bullet for his lack of English

Looking at the synopsis, this film has the Norwegian team as well as an American team who were never mentioned, as they're doing top-secret alien discovery stuff, therefore technically people could/can survive and escape... just not the Norwegians. Director talks about leading-lady being modelled on Ripley as well, and it seems they are trying to be faithful to the original, to the point of avoiding CG unless necessary, so hopefully they'll be some ridiculously gross Thing stuff, showing off the Thing in it's original form, and slapping an R rating on it.

Perhaps I'll give it a chance...
