 My pc (R9 390 + 4770K @ 4.3ghz) can only just run Watch Dogs: Legion, according to this:

Minimum Specs (1080p Low Settings)
Processor: Intel Core i5-4460/AMD Ryzen 5 1400
Graphics card: 4 GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 / AMD Radeon R9 290X

Maybe I can get a little more life out of it before upgrading :D

U can buy watch dogs Legion on the Epic Store for around £31 in some countries, if you use a voucher :D

By all accounts the game is boring after a few hours with many streamers turning it off and going back to other games lmao.

Pay for one month of uplay+ and save money. I bet most people won't be playing after 1 month. The game is weird performance-wise. One sec it runs flawlessly on my Vega 64, the next its a stuttery mess, just by standing inside a subway entrance and turning 180 degrees... When that happened I just quit the game. I don't have the patience for that sort of thing.

before everyone gets excited about a ubisoft game running like a 1 legged hippo maybe wait for the 6000's to hit to see how it runs on similar powered cards. could be its just ubisoft magic once more.

I was going to sit out this round but the AMD launch yesterday swayed me that way to go with a 5xxx CPU and the 6800XT to upgrade my PC which I've been delaying till there is something I like the look of. Will be the first time I go all AMD for years if I decide to.

The AMD platform will likely age better, even in the short term. Following a more generic/available standard, and existing across multiple platforms, developers will prioritise for the majority.

Does anyone else find the hatred of the Epic Games launcher / platform kind of irrational / childish?

Not amongst the majority perhaps, but a large percentage of Steam gamers.

Yes, Epic, you can buy my affection with free games :D

There is capitalist system, then there is price fixing. Which is essentially what they're doing as duopoly.

Don't get me wrong, like 1080 ill buy the 6800XT. I don't have any options... But both Nvidia and now AMD are despicable companies who are driving their gross margins way beyond what is reasonable, using the lack of competition to do so.
Can you prove that and yes in the past they were caught doing that.

Nvidia set the new ceiling price with the 2080TI and Amd followed a lot of you were happy buying a 2080TI and 3090, as soon as the 2080TI flew off the shelves Nvidia and Amd saw what people were willing to pay.

By buying those cards you set the price for the future, it is quite funny that some of you dismiss Amd under cutting the 3090, but it is your money do what you want with it.
I don't buy at that price so don't really care, yes I would like cheaper cards but if people are willing to pay the price they will keep making the product at that price point.

I think I've decided to sit these releases out until next year. Prices across all parts (CPU/GPU etc) are always inflated by retailers and I won't pay above msrp, gaming just isn't worth that extra cost to me.

I did try getting a monitor that works with both AMD/Nvidias VRR, as my current monitor is g-sync only, but that is faulty so will be going back for a refund as I can't be arsed with trying panel after panel to find a decent one.

I've also got a XSX on pre-order, so that will keep me occupied to well into next year, as I don't have mega amounts of time or enthusiasm to game anymore. I normally get through about 2 or 3 games a year so spending upwards of £600+ on a GPU really doesn't sit right.

My current PC will run what few PC exclusive games I do have (Hearts of Iron/Stellaris/X-com 2 etc) I think my days of getting excited about an upgrade are well and truly over. It's turned into more a case of dreading how much an upgrade is going to cost now.

I must have about 40 / 50 free games from Epic and not all bad, a lot of them older but still good games.

There needs to be an alternative to Steam, i find the arguments irrational but the Epic Games launcher is cumbersome and slow, it needs a lot of work.
